The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Okay. The giant middle finger is debated and the sculptor will not divulge its true meaning. I’ll give it shot at my interpretation, and I agreed with it when I brought a bunch of items from the USA and sort of traded when I took away Italian items. One main tenet of fascism is self sufficiency and no trade. When I traded, I thumbed my nose at Fascism.
The stock exchange building was a Fascist building and I’m told that the whole hand is the Fascist salute. So, cutting away 4 fingers is like cutting away 80% of Fascism and leaving a really big “Shoot the Bird” or F…. You at Fascism. But, that’s just my take.

It is the most important place in Italy for the finance. The building, as well as the other in the square, are an example of the architecture of the "Mussolini" era in Italy.
In the middle of the square there is a controversial piece of Cattelan. My son made more photos to the finger than to the buildings....

Piazza Affari with finger statue as the main attraction. It's right front of Milan stock exchange. My tour guide took me there and explained the history and the artist. He said other fingers are cut off and the hand is in position of fascist salute from Mussolini era. It was built as a response to 2008 financial meltdown. Thus the statue is making fun of capitalism and fascism.

This square in front of the Milan Stock Exchange building is interesting with the unusual monument. 4-metre marble fist showing "f_ck" facing financial big shots

This is not a particularly appealing piazza, even not considering the sculpture. I do not think it is worth your time to walk over to this unless you really want a picture of a sculpture giving the middle finger.

This is the financial heart of Milan. It features buildings such as the stock exchange and a controversial statue from Maurizio Cattelan where the financiers get the literal middle finger.
Visit the place for the L.O.V.E statue.

During a downtown walking tour of Milan, we came upon Piazza Affari, home of the Italian Stock Exchange and other important buildings. Right smack dab in the middle of the piazza is an amazing culpture by Cattelan called "L.O.V.E."
