The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

- Asta365Kent, Texas582 contributionsA “Must See” in MilanBeyond the extensive reviews already posted on this unique villa in the heart of Milan, I’d like to add a few additional observations. 1. Very knowledgeable docents at the villa answered several questions I had about design issues and contradictions in the building and its furnishings that went beyond the objects and addressed the changes to mores in post-WWII Italy. 2. Amazing degree of preservation. 3. Remarkable number of original objects throughout the villa. Hard to imagine the trust/courage to allow the general public into such a site!Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 15 June 2024

MUST VISIT, even if you are not an architect or into interior design. A fantastic place with the friendliest and kindest staff I have ever encountered. A big plus is that the audio guide is included in the price, so you can connect to the villa's WiFi and use your phone and headphones to listen to the audio guide at your own pace.
However, I recommend that you befriend someone from the staff; they are more than happy to share more info, show you some old photos, or open some hidden doors... :)
Too bad it was closing soon for a private event; otherwise, we would have enjoyed more in the beautiful garden and had some drinks.

I really enjoyed this. The Villa was completed by architect Piero Portaluppi in 1935 on behalf of the Necchi & Campiglio families. It is a beautifully preserved example of the home of an aspirational, wealthy family of the period. In contrast to Portaluppis' modern design is the Louis XV styling of architect Tomaso Buzzi who was invited post war to make changes. The Villa was bequeathed by the family to the FAI, a National Trust style organisation. The guides I believe, are volunteers & the gentleman assigned to give me the low down on the villa had excellent English skills & extensive knowledge. I was left to explore the further rooms, with guides on hand if required. It’s possible to download an English information guide onto your phone on arrival. It takes around an hour to look round & is very central. There is a sweet little cafe on site.

Villa and garden: 5
FAI management: 1
I am very sorry that a jewel of this magnitude is managed so badly by the FAI with a guide who remembers little and badly and with a jumble of paintings that have nothing to do with the villa but "eh we had to include them since they are there been donated." I would really have preferred to savor the true rationalist spirit of the villa and not a miscellany of styles and works that have no rhyme or reason and which confuse the user. Such a pity

An experience of the home of industrialists and nobles with attention to the taste of furnishings between 1930 and the following years.
An immersion in taste and care.
The exceptional volunteer Lea with her culture explained from marble to the drawing of skeins up to a bathtub. With passion and participation he made us immerse ourselves. Experience the house.
Not words written and studied on sites. No, no real words.
Really worth the visit.
15 euros seems like a lot but it's worth it.
It makes you understand what it was like to live in that era between making and producing (industrial) and the culture of beauty.
Well done Lucia at the shop.
My mother and I became FAI members today thanks to the two of them.

This lovely Art Nouveau villa is probably not on the Hit List of the first-time visitor to Milan, but it deserves to be. It is delightful - quiet and peaceful and full of beautiful objects and artefacts, all in the setting of a 1930s villa specifically commissioned from the architect Piero Portaluppi. And all in a lovely garden setting too. Very close to Palestro metro station.

Villa Necchi is a historic residence of the 1930s, built by the famous business family in the San Babila area, in the historic center of Milan. Now a house-museum, the property is managed by Fai and can be visited independently or with guided tours at fixed times. Surrounded by a beautiful garden with swimming pool, among other things the first private pool built in Milan, it is also equipped with a tennis court, where events are occasionally organized. Also in the Villa garden there is a lovely café while the classic bookshop is located at the entrance. Returning to the Villa and the visit of its interiors, among the most scenic rooms I would mention the library, the living room and the conservatory, all located on the mezzanine floor. Going up to the first floor there are the master bedrooms and those for guests, with their bathrooms, designed according to a precise pattern that is repeated each time. Filled with objects, not all traceable to the Villa, it will be much appreciated by lovers of decorative arts. Visit overall pleasant.

Villa Necchi Campiglio is a classic home in the heart of Milan. It is reflects a period of yesteryear with period furnishing, lighting, etc. The gardens are splendid and the restaurant on the property is a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Necchi family's villa from the thirties is both architecturally complete and very well preserved/restored. The house has so many artefacts from the Necchi family's time in the house that you get a little sense of how the family lived here.
There is an excellent podcast available from the web that gives a nice overview. The visit takes just under two hours if you take your time, but can easily be done in less time.
There is a nice restaurant in the garden (didn't try it).

I returned to Villa Necchi Campigli for a botanical exhibition on citrus fruits, hosted in the garden, and I was able to admire once again the splendid villa, the work of Piero Portaluppi (built between 1932 and 1935) and commissioned by the sisters Nedda and Gigina Necchi and by Angelo Campiglio, Gigina's husband.
It seems incredible: a villa with a huge garden, a swimming pool and a tennis court in the center of Milan!
The furnishings are still the original ones, although some additions of works and furniture donated to the FAI (which is the owner of the villa) and displayed here slightly distort the authenticity of the furnishings. Some historic sewing machines produced by the family company are also on display.
Anyway, worth seeing!

We visited the park on the occasion of a Fuorisalone event. A wonderful swimming pool and a well-kept garden reign supreme. The villa is a small corner of paradise 5 minutes walk from San Babila, a historic residence from the 1930s. From the outside you can glimpse the wonderful interior, it is certainly worth a visit during the FAI days.

Interesting to note the tour is 1.5 hours.
Written 6 March 2018

Written 7 March 2018
Normalmente si. Credo che di recente abbiano promosso anche per un periodo di tempo la possibilità di visitarla, ti consiglio di vedere sul sito del FAI o contattarli direttamente.
