Top ways to experience Darsena
The area
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

This popular hotspot where many locals offers lunches, dinners, appetizers, brunches and street foods.
The Darsena is now a great place to visit, not only at night, after the restored made for Expo 2015 ( before it was aim a sorry state ) .
The ancient dock of Milano as become a nice meeting point for those visiting the Milanese canals.
Here the waters of the Ticino river arrive trough the Naviglio Grande and go towards Pavia through the Naviglio Pavese.
In 1603 when it was built, it was real port ( in third place for tons transit in 1953 ) then , with the closure of the circle of canals it became a tourist attraction.

My wife and I celebrate our 40th anniversary in Milan, Bellagio and Zug, Switzerland. Our first 6 days have been here in Milan. We stayed in the Galleria Vik Milano - it was a treat, with fantastic access to shopping, fine dining etc. We have been to Rome, Florence and Venice - it is one of our favorite cities in Italy. Of course my wife found the shopping to be exceptional. She bought a designer dress for one of our daughter’s upcoming wedding.
By coming in September - the crowds were light - the weather was beautiful, so far!

Went here for the first time April 14th. A very chilled out vibe with street musicians, cafes and bars. I got some cold drinks from an Asian superMarket adjacent to GUD Milano restaurant… sat in the afternoon sun enjoy the atmosphere. Italian stylish place

Today Gud Vista Darsena closed: too dangerous area both day and night. In fact the whole thing is run down dirty and poorly attended. congratulations to the municipal administration allowed him to go to hell a restyling project of great effect.

We have been there ion Saturday evening. The area was full of life and crowded. It is a promenade on both sides of the water and there were a lot of restaurants and bars. There was played loud music in some of the bars. It seamed to be the evenig life area of Milan.

Until 1953 this was the port of the city , here arrive and ends Naviglio Grande and start the Naviglio Pavese.
Now is a good place for a walk or for a good sunbathing lying on the pier

Went there on local recommendation and was not disappointed! Very lively scene full of bars, restaurants, caffes and people. Canal lined up with small bridges and easy to walk along.
Lots of bars serve the buffet food when you buy a drink too. Great idea! Highly recommend for day or evening out.

It's unbelievable to think that this used to be a non-place. Just a few years ago, there was nothing here. In 2015, the new Darsena dramatically changed the looks of this part of town. Now it's a must-visit, especially at night when hanging out near Navigli! If it's summer, make sure you always have mosquito spray, or you won't survive. Go take a look at the market on the side closest to Piazza XXIV Maggio, here you'll find all sorts of local delicacies very close to foreign flavors. Pick one of the cafés near the water for an unconventional aperitivo (but don't expect lots of foods here). During the past 2 summers Sky organized an open-air cinema thanks to the cube screen, which would also screen football games. If this isn't enough to convince you how good this place is, then it's probably not for you! ;)

It is recommended to spend some time at this location at the intersection of Darsena with Navigli. It is a very beautiful area by the rivers and the colorful buildings, and many nice outlets and restaurants/cafes.

I am travelling to Milan next week (Feb 14-18th) is it worth it to stop by here even though its cold.

Yes, it is definitely worth a visit. There is a wonderful choice of restaurants and cafes in the area to suit all budgets. You would be able to walk along the canals and possibly even take a boat trip if they're running at this time of year. It is a vibrant and diverse area. Completely different to central Milan. Enjoy!!

Saluti.
