Top ways to experience Piazza della Scala
The area
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
How to get there

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Piazza is a modern looking Piazza that connects to The Piazza Duomo through the Vittoria Emmanuel Galleria. Looking at a map of the Ancient Mediolanum, it’s a good thing that the most significant of the ancient structures were not paved over by the modern structures. Most of the relevant ancient stuff was actually to the southwest of this site.
There’s the Da Vinci Statue I covered in an earlier review, but here also is the Da Vinci museum. I wasn’t able to go in the museum, but I feel fairly knowledgeable enough to make an educated comment.
After getting a glimpse of The Codex, I was pretty sure I saw something that wouldn’t be completely defined by Isaac Newton, until 200 years later: Rectilinear Motion. We know Da Vinci thought a lot about the motion of particles and we know Galileo, 100 years later, defined gravitational force. Da Vinci, 100 years earlier, defined another force acting on a body in motion: friction.
So, basically, Isaac Newton, 100 years after Galileo, and 200 years after Da Vinci, integrated the works of both Galileo and Da Vinci to create the important first and second laws of motion. (Physics and Dynamics). But, besides the all theoretical notes, this museum will also show a lot of the experimental contributions of Leonardo Da Vinci.

This is an oasis of calm just before you enter the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, dominated by a statue of Leonardo Da Vinci. Somewhere to take a breather after the hustle of Piazza Del Duomo, there are seats around the inner circle.

Just behind is La Scala Opera House, take a seat and get your breath back.

The Piazza fella Scala is a well maintained square. Grennery surrounds a central statute of Leonardo. There is marble seating around. Perfect to take a break whilst strolling Milan.

The Scala square is just behind the Duomo and a good area to relax. You can have there a break from your shopping and you can admire the buildings around it.

We walked through the smallish Piazza della Scala which is situated in front of the La Scala Opera. It was neat to see this famous theater.

Expansive piazza in a lovely city, with the famous opera house in the background. Especially gorgeous in the evening.

A typical public square in an Italian city. This statue is of Leonardo DaVinci but it could be of a number of different Italian historical figures.

As its name says this little square stands across the street from the world famous La Scala theater. That should be enough for any traveler to visit it, but moreover there's a monument tribute to great Leonardo da Vinci, behind whom is the entrance to the also world famous passageway Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle leading directly to the Duomo.
Having all the above in mind it's a must stop for every tourist.
