We bought our tickets, that included the guided tour of the theatre in English and admission to the museum, directly from the La Scala museum a couple of days in advance. Our guide (sorry, I don't remember his name) was very nice, very well acquainted with the history of La Scala and the opera in general, and had a very good English. We all gathered in the foyer, where the guide was waiting for us. Then we went to the historical boxes - the one we saw had been preserved in its original look and as we were told, in the olden times, the rich families visiting the opera house used to spend a few days in their "personal" box which they were hiring just like a hotel room. There they slept, had meals and many other activities. We saw also the "Royal Box", reserved for the President of Italy when he visits La Scala for performances, or for other really VIP guests. We sat for a while in the main hall, went behind/under the stage and saw some of the mechanisms used for arranging the decors. Our guide gave us lots of information and answered many questions the people asked. My wife loved the tour, so did I, not being a very big opera fan although my wife sometimes brings me to opera performances.…

We took a tour with a travel company & La Scala was one of the gems of the tour. It's amazing to see one of the leading theaters in the world. Of course 5 min in a private box watching a rehearsal is not enough but you experienced that thrill of being in one of the leading theaters in the world. Acoustics was very good. You have that feel of old time when reach/powerful ppl attended performances in La Scala. We truly enjoyed it...…

This is a short walk from the Duomo Plaza and about 1/2 way through the tour you'll realize what an amazing piece of music history is represented here. What is amazing is going into one of the boxes that looks onto the stage and you'll realize just how HUGE this place is and how amazing the acoustics are for such a large structure that was built so long ago. Very much enjoyed this. …

We got to go into one of the private boxes and see what it was like to see an opera like one of the the rich and famous. This famous theater is well worth a visit, especially for those who love opera and theater.…

We ended up having our guide, Lucia, just for our family! The unexpected private tour was fantastic. Lucia was knowledgeable and very warm and personable. She gave us a tour of the entire museum, shared the history of the Scala and we were able to witness a rehearsal as well! The tour lasts about an hour, but you are able to linger around for as long as you'd like after the guided tour. Lucia did not mind getting off script and answered all our questions in depth, it was evident that she could have given a much longer and deeper tour if time allowed. Nevertheless, what you get is a good overview of this magnificent Milan landmark. Highly recommend it!…
