The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although the hall itself is impressive, the video presentation is even more staggering. Quite an unexpected treat while discovering the Castle.

Leonardo painted the ceilings of this room in Castello Sforzesco (now part of the Museum of antique arts). It is currently under restoration process and cannot be properly seen.

The room itself is rather beautiful and impressive with the paintings of the tree trunks on the walls and the ceiling covered with paintings of leaves. The video is really impressive as it lights up the walls and ceilings as it explains how the painting was created. The video lasts approx. 10 minutes and is in Italian. There is an English translation projected on the floor. If you need the English translation, sit at least 3 rows up to make it easier to see and read from the floor.

The Sala delle Asse (In English: 'room of the tower' or 'room of the wooden boards'), is the location for a wall and ceiling painting in tempera on plaster, of decorated "intertwining plants with fruits and monochromes of roots and rocks", by Leonardo da Vinci, dating from about 1498 and located in the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. The exhibition including the audio visual presentations are superb.

This room was the only thing that interested me in this castle and it is closed and they don't even say for how long. You can pass by it and just get a glimpse, that's all.

Surprised to find that this da Vinci room is not listed on Tripadvisor. It is undergoing restauration and though not complete it is open to the public. Your entry ticket to the castle includes access to this room.
During his stay in Milan Leonardo was askedto decorate the ceiling of this room in the most intricate design of trees, foliage and flowers. Sadly its condition is now very poor .....hence the restoration.
Really it is best to be forewarned about the condition of the painted ceiling .....it is often difficult to read it and see what was painted. That aside the way the ceiling is presented in a very hi tech guide way is top class and worth a visit for that alone. The AV display is in darkness and afterwards the ceiling is illuminated for 15 minutes.
