About
The Museum, inaugurated in 1936, displays anatomical and naturalistic preparations, scientific instruments, manuscripts and printed texts dating back to the medieval origins of the University: a true witness to the history of a hallmark of the city of Pavia. Come and discover Alessandro Volta's inventions and collection of physics instruments, and marvel at the impressive collection gathered by his successors. Are you interested in medicine? We house a collection of anatomical preparations of great historical interest, together with priceless instruments that tell the stories of great doctors, such as Antonio Scarpa, Luigi Porta, Carlo Forlanini and Edoardo Porro. Do you want even more? Then come and admire handwritten documents of Nobel laureates Camillo Golgi and Albert Einstein... Do tag us on Facebook and Instagram pics, and check our website for special openings on Saturdays. Enjoy your visit!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Built on an Austrian garrison barrack, the Palce hosts gardens and cloisters with statue of scientists and other personalities. The cloisters are ideal place to practice arts. The Palace host the Hall of the 400, the main hall and the Volta Hall where the first prototype of the battery was presented to Napoleon Bonaparte by Alexander Volta

Located in Corso Strada Nuova. Beautiful Architecture, well preserved. Pavia is a university town and here you get a nice impression of university life in Pavia.

The first impression when you enter the university it seems so simple and nothing interesting as the main entrance leads - direct corridor- to the other side of the city. But when you have a walk around, so many status, an excellent architecture. The most facinating thing is when entering to salas and Aulas, it is incredibly awsome, so high roofs, front walls well designed, pictures, sculptures

A reconoiter of Pavia to feel out the University and student life included a visit to the University and library. What a beautiful building, full of courtyards and colonades. Visitors are made welcome and there is even a small restaurant in a center courtyard where we ate lunch. A visit to the library was the highlight. We had a long chat with the librarian about this and that and learned that there are 32 kilometers of books if they were to stand end to end. 35 personel to custody and digitize catalogue and lend. The ancient library holding rare volumes in bookcases designed by a famous architect of the time displayed according to theme and accesible to the public through the proper channels. As usual I remain in awe when I consider the amount of public art to be maintained in Italy.

This is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The grounds are a public space with beautiful buildings and small park like areas. Walk through and enjoy the views.
