Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For the €14 ticket price I definitely expected something more than a series of photographs and indications of civic addresses on where to admire Turin's Art Nouveau buildings.
Everything is grouped together in a single room cleverly distributed along temporary walls that conceal a route which, to see it in its entirety, takes only 20 minutes.
Too sparse in the artefacts displayed with almost non-existent explanations.
There is the possibility of an audio guide but I haven't checked whether it really costs money (further € to be added to the exodus contribution for the ticket) which would be a further economic mockery.
Rotating videos without even an audio explanation.
Definitely overpriced.
It was a disappointment.
Too bad for the missed opportunity to do something better.

The exhibition on Liberty in Turin underway at Palazzo Nadama was a great disappointment. The ticket price of €14.00, to which the cost of the audio guide of €5.00 can be added, is not justified for an exhibition of little depth, with few works, scarce and not in-depth didactic notes. The film reproduced the photos of the Art Nouveau buildings already present in the room without any vocal trace. The comparison is merciless with the exhibition on Liberty presented in 2014 in Forlì which was able to describe in all facets the importance of an artistic and cultural movement which has pervaded all artistic fields for over 20 years, from painting, to sculpture, to architecture. The Turin exhibition is to be avoided, because it is poorly done and seems to have the sole purpose of making money without giving adequate compensation.

A real scam! 14 euros to see two photographs of Art Nouveau buildings in Turin and just a couple of objects. Total visit time: no more than half an hour. Presentation video visible in the room (the only one in which the exhibition is divided) poor, without captions or audio and with the same photographs present along the visit route. I would also like to point out that, in addition to the already crazy price of 14 euros, another 5 per person are needed to purchase the audio guide. If Turin aims to become the "capital of Liberty", I'm sorry, but this is a terrible way to do it. Absolutely avoid!

I must admit that I made a really hasty and not complete tour of this building, which is part of the Savoy Residences of Turin UNESCO World Heritage Site. We arrived at 5pm and the museum closed at 6pm, so we saw everything in a hurry. I also suffer greatly from dizziness and therefore I do not know or climbed the tower, where my husband instead climbed and from the photos I saw the view is really very beautiful. For the rest I must be honest for what I had heard of Palazzo Madama expectations were much higher. The exhibits are also valuable, but often sacrificed by a chaotic, dark and undervalued display of individual pieces. Beautiful room on the third floor with ceramics, perhaps the most beautiful part. Forgettable the baroque part the second floor is too badly set up the medieval part on the ground floor. Of the paintings on display I was struck by some medieval retables and the Antonello da Messina, but no more. They then told us not to miss the most beautiful staircase in Europe but we still did not understand what they were referring to because the staircase at the entrance is certainly very beautiful, but nothing to say with that of the Royal Palace nearby just to give an example. In general the visit did not leave me with great memories. I could not even admire the famous facade of the Juvarra because half is being restored with scaffolding. To enter we took advantage of the Piedmont Card that we already had.

I visit Turin frequently and go here most times. The styles of art on the different floors are very different. On the way in is some lovely wood carving. The ground floor is my favourite - it isn't very big but I love the painted statues and other woodwork.

Palazzo Madama sits in the middle of Palazzo Castello. The outside of three sides is a medieval castle, built around one of the great Roman gates of Turin, the other is Juvarra's baroque facade (partly covered for restoration currently). The House of Savoy used it as a palace for the Queen Dowagers. Today it is a superb museum, apart from displaying the baroque splendour in which the Queens lived, in includes paintings by da Messina, magnificent woodwork, etc. The ground floor of the central room includes a glass floor covering the medieval floor of the castle. The great central senate room is stunning - enormously tall with a memorial to key mid 19 Century meetings leading towards the Risorgimento. The tope of the building has a viewing terrace from the top of one of the towers with great views of Turin.

Well publicized exhibition, it's a shame that it's truly a miserable thing, a real insult to people's intelligence. Since photographs, video repeats the same photos. Non-existent objects. I think it would be appropriate to close it quickly to avoid further protests from unaware users.

I am referring exclusively to the Liberty exhibition. A real shame. It seems to have been set up by people who were novices and totally without means: two paintings, only one of which can be watched and therefore only posters and photos. Non-existent educational path. A real joke. Linking the name of the City to this filth was an unforgivable mistake. Anyone who went to San Omenico in Forlì ten years ago was able to really appreciate the Liberty! The comparison is disheartening.

Palazzo Madama and Cassaforte degli Acaja are an architectural complex located in the center of the suggestive Piazza Castello. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the Savoy Royal Residences. It houses the Civic Museum of Ancient Art. It represents a truly unicum due to the union of styles in two thousand years of history: from an ancient Roman eastern gate to a defensive stronghold (approximately 5th century) up to becoming a castle of power (14th century). It was a royal residence until the 16th century, when the Dukes of Savoy chose the current Royal Palace as their headquarters. The western part was then called Palazzo Madama because it was inhabited by Madama Cristina of Bourbon - France, also called "first royal madame" (period 1620-1663) and subsequently by Maria Giovanna Battista of Savoy - Nemours, also called "second royal madame" ( period 1666-1724); the current façade was designed for the latter by the royal architect Filippo Juvarra. Already from the 15th century it had a secondary importance and was used for illustrious guests and as a temporary residence. The turning point came in 1637: the Regent Maria Cristina of Bourbon elected it as her residence and embellished it as we see it today: Baroque palace in white marble, monumental staircase, columns and rich ornaments. Seat of the Subalpine Senate from 1848 until the transfer to Florence in 1865). Absolutely worth seeing. Entrance included in the Torino Card

Exhibition on Liberty.
Really disappointing. Photos of buildings and some original posters. In 20 minutes you can see how little there is for the "modest" sum of 14 euro entrance fee. To have the ambition to compete as the capital city of Liberty is a joke!

Is it necessary to reserve tickets in advance?
And if so, which site did you use?
On the website of Palazzo Madame there is a reference to TicketOne but it’s only possible on that website to book tickets at 10 o ‘clock.

I have heard there is cafeteria in the palace and I am wondering how high are the prices.
Written 24 October 2020
You're right: there is a nice cafeteria inside. If you get a coffee prices are in line with the market otherwise you can espect higher prices of about a 20%, but the place is very nice.

ciao alessandra, la visita la puoi giostrare come vuoi, puoi anche prendere guide e/o auricolari, io l'ho fatta tutta da sola guardandomi tutte le stanze ed i capolavori presenti, sono stata dentro circa un'ora e mezza. Prossima visita agli alloggi reali a palazzo carignano li però fanno solo visite guidate.
Buona visita
