Good morning everyone. last night 01/10/2024, we went to the Regio theater in Turin for the SHEN YUN show. We purchased 2 tickets for row 11 nr. 52 and 54. From this position we were able to "enjoy" only a third of the entire stage, obviously losing the best of the splendor of the scenography. However, we can guarantee that the "flagpole" of the loudspeaker or antenna, whatever it was, could be seen wonderfully well, just as the black curtains behind which the dancers could reach the wings could be seen very well. The tickets cost 80 euros each but for that viewing, those tickets weren't even worth 5 euros. I believe that whoever manages the Theater could have considered NOT selling those rows that are too lateral which penalize the shows and our wallets. For these reasons I would NOT ADVISE anyone who wants to see a show at the Regio to buy those tickets in the side seats because they would not enjoy the spectacle for what it deserves.
Really bad experience..

We visited the operahouse for the first time last weekend and we were favourably impressed. We saw Norma and the acoustics were excellent. It is a well conceived open plan theatre with a wonderful feeling of space. The orchestra level is quite spacious and raised appropriately. There is one box level above the orchestra level. It is well organized for entry and exit and the ticket office next door is well organized and informative. The only problem is that they had only one caisse working during the interval - one has to prepay the drinks or coupe whatever before going to the bar to collect, and the queue was so long that by the time we reached the caisse, there was simply not enough time remaining. But this is a detail - we loved the theatre.

What a stunning, modern opera house -- great acoustics, nice staff, gorgeous location on the Piazza Castello and some superb singing. I heard a matinee of Lucia di Lammermoor and was impressed by the excellence of the orchestra and the chorus, the principals were very, very good indeed and the production was attractive and effective. Great lighting design. I really appreciated the surtitles, too -- in both Italian and English. The midweek matinee is a very good value and I had a little box all to myself which was extremely comfortable. I would suggest not choosing a box any closer than six from the stage -- I was sixth from the stage on the house right side and there were things happening on stage left that I couldn't see. Didn't bother me unduly, but it's a fact.

Excellent modern opera house with a great atmosphere. The view is excellent from all seats and the sound quality is wonderful. Plenty of seating areas for a drink at the intervals. Friendly and helpful staff.

The Teatro Regio di Torino participated in the Hong Kong Arts Festival this year, providing a handful of opera and symphony performances that were very enjoyable to watch at our local HK Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The opera production of Verdi's Simon Boccanegra was smashing, a very enjoy performance. In addition to the lead vocals, we enjoyed stage sets during the later Part 2 and 3 as well as the supporting role of the orchestra, which played superbly throughout the story. All in all, this was a very enjoyable opera experience.
We were also treated to an evening hearing the Teatro Regio Torino orchestra performance of Verdi's Requiem, which was nothing short of world class. Conducted by the acclaimed Gianandrea Noseda, the orchestra seemed to really own Requiem and produced Verdi's masterpiece marvellously.
This was just musical harmony between the choir and instrumental sections with exquisite performances by the lead vocals. We really enjoyed hearing the soprano and tenor in particular. Conductor Noseda was quite animated in his management of Requiem as well. He seems to love this piece and so did his orchestra on the night. We loved hearing them play! They were nothing short of superb on the evening.
In the end, we felt very fortunate to have Teatro di Torino here in Hong Kong and greatly appreciated the opportunity to see them perform in our home city.

The original opera house had a glorious history but it unfortunately came to an end in 1936 when the old building was destroyed. Not re-built for some years, the interior is now an excellent modern opera house.
Good design, plenty of space, very comfortable seating and we saw a good production.
If you want to have a drink in the interval then I recommend that you pay before the start of the performance so that you can then queue directly with your receipt at the bar in the interval.
I found the online ticket purchase system very straightforward and my tickets were ready for collection in the foyer during the hour before the performance, no need to go to the box office.

We'd hoped for a baroque, overblown, fabulous opera house and were a bit disappointed by the rather lacklustre design of the Teatro Regio. Having said that, the acoustics are wonderful and that is what we go to the opera for. The production we saw (Barber of Seville) was lavish and the audience appreciative.

We attended an enjoyable concert during the MITO festival and heard the Torino Orchestra and Chorus under their Music director, Gianandrea Noseda. Our seats were about halfway back in the stalls and the view and sound were very good. The interior has some lovely chandeliers and interval refreshments were good value.

More than just a theatre experience, it was a plunge into magic, history and beauty.
Enormous theatre, quite full but able to manage crowds without queuing.
Super spacious and free cloakroom
It was like repeating the theatre ceremony of the 19th century and the show was super
A thrilling and precious memory of my stay in Turin

Written 7 October 2015
