Designed in 1564 by Vitozzi. It's lined with porticoes and is the real heart of the city: here and hereabouts stand the great buildings that have witnessed the development of the city, from the ancient Roman era to our days. In the middle of the square stands Palazzo Madama and on the side you could see The Royal Theatre, The Royal Palace , the Royal Library (that houses Leonardo da Vinci 's operas). In Piazza Castello (The Castle Square) begin the most important central streets, like Rome Street, Po Street, Garibaldi Street and Pietro Micca Street.

This Square is very beautiful and is central to Turin and connects all of the main streets and roads and other squares. It is big and has a beautiful spacious area in the middle with benches and fountains where you can relax. There are two palaces you can visit, Palazzo Madama which I visited some time ago and was stunning,... More

It's a vast square in the heart of Turin,it's easy to find, and it's surrounded by some great architecture. It was also the spot of the Christmas fair which was pretty nice!

This square is located in Turin city centre next to the royal castle. The only this that I didn't like was seeing that the police let an african man play their typical drum in the middle of the square undisturbed...with all the historic importance of the place it was absolutely appalling to see something like that! the funny thing is... Piazza castello's atmosphere is similar to piazza del Duomo in Milan, full of activities and restaurants and shops, and the local police are patrolling the place all the time so you will feel safe. The piazza is one of Turin's landmarks so it's a must visit.

It is very central, and from here you can visit the Palace or the courtyard, and lots of stores under the arches, just beautiful to visit to start to know Turin.

Piazza Castello is at the heart of Turin. There are many shops and food outlets next to this square. One of Piazza Castello's linking roads is Via Garibaldi, a very long street with many shops including the Juve Store. At night, Piazza Castello is very lively. During our visit in the first week of December, there was also a mini... More

If you look in Google Maps where is the right centre of the city, that's it. There are always street markets, street musicians, exhibitions, etc. Moreover, it is very big and spacious. You will like it as well if you enjoy architechture.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours in the old centre of town visiting the royal palace with its incredible gold lined interior from the days of the Savoy Monarchy and exploring what the great little market stalls had to offer. There was also an impressive Christmas tree type structure that looks incredible at night when all lit up.

This area of the city is used to join a lot of the central attractions together. It's an open space used by locals and tourists alike.
