Designed in 1564 by Vitozzi. It's lined with porticoes and is the real heart of the city: here and hereabouts stand the great buildings that have witnessed the development of the city, from the ancient Roman era to our days. In the middle of the square stands Palazzo Madama and on the side you could see The Royal Theatre, The Royal Palace , the Royal Library (that houses Leonardo da Vinci 's operas). In Piazza Castello (The Castle Square) begin the most important central streets, like Rome Street, Po Street, Garibaldi Street and Pietro Micca Street.

With the Palace as a backdrop, there are regular events in this Piazza, and possibly the best Foccacia Pizzas in Italy served on the left.

Very nice graphic city centre square. We went there during Christmas time, and was very nicely decorated. A place to go when you visit Turin!

Now you can see the nice Exibition at Palazzo Chiablese about Toulouse Lautrec. It is on the left side of the Royal Castle .

Lovely piazza to just people watch.I love the smell of roasted chestnuts and it can be had around most corners. One feels safe due to presence of police.

Seems always something happening here! All the buses seem to go out of here, lots of people. Music abounds. On the Saturday we were there a group of "Pole Dancers", yes I said pole dancers, were entertaining the crowd while women were getting mammograms done! I guess that's one way to get the husbands to come with you! Seriously though,... More

Beautiful piazza in the old town of Torino. Numerous museums and palaces within walking distance. The centre of this historic ex-royal city, not to be missed!
