Seeing any city's historic walls makes me wish they could share what has gone on around them. It is no different here. We were fortunate enough to have done a home exchange with a couple that has an apartment on the river, close to some of the old walls. Not only do we sleep with the sounds of the river, we get to cross some historic bridges and run our hands along the walls as well.

If you fancy a walk away from the city then follow the city walls wherever you can - there are interesting gates and architecture - it's nice to get away from it and there are often good paths to follow.

We had enough time to walk around the old city walls. It was great for picture taking, understanding the history and observing locals who use the areas like parks. Relaxing and shady in the Summer sun.

This is a well preserved gate to the old city of Padua, parts of which are still standing encircling the city.
