About
The heart of Casinò di Venezia beats on the Grand Canal in Ca' Vendramin Calergi, the sophisticated theatre of the most classic games. In 1638 the Casinò di Venezia quickly established itself as the centre of entertainment of international notoriety while in the 1950s it moved to this location.

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Awful , ugly casino, with shocking behaviour from the staff.
Entering the casino is very disappointing, it’s small, tired and hardly any games to play, so I decided to play the roulette.
First spin I lost 100
Second spin I won a little back and as they gave the chips the watcher told me when I win I need to give a tip, even though I clearly was not winning,
His attitude was aggressive and I replied maybe when I win.
He was very rude and every spin kept insisting I give tips to the point it was embarrassing, he was asking to give tips for his dinner etc.
then the lady working the roulette got involved and started to tell me I need to tip when I win. And they was talking bad about me in Italian which I can understand. I ignored them and carried playing.
Then to my surprise I almost won every spin and could see them becoming more angry and demanding of tips.
Was unbelievable. Just pure begging after they had just abused me. I told them I will not give them one cent because they need to learn some respect.
Amd I had the same situation as they changed the staff twice and both of the other watchers was begging too ,very aggressive. By this point I told them enough we have already done this routine with ur colleagues.
I left the table thousands of euro up (first time ever 😂)and the pure anger of the watcher was very clear and threatening.
I said thank you and left with a huge smile on my face.
I have been too casinos all over the world and I HAVE NEVER witnessed such desperate, embarrassing, rude and begging behaviour.
I definitely will never return.

I have wanted to visit the world’s oldest Casino for 40 years.
I have visited casinos on three continents and reading the reviews I was wary.
This is a great place.
The €50 Euro entry makes perfect sense if you don’t want it packed with drunken louts. They rebate half that in gambling chips.
The building is breathtaking and although it is nothing (thankfully) like Vegas or Reno, it is as close to Casino Royals I have ever seen.
The bars are lovely, the staff friendly.
Don’t believe the negative reviews. They’re either too cheap or looky loos!

Empty. Only the staff.
Speaking to whom is like "why are you even here?" It's like someone beat them up to get them to work.
50 euro entry is an absolute joke given the service (non existent).
No poker table (obvious when there is no one and only ghosts).
Better to donate your money to the needy or throw it in the canal.
Still might do good.
This is an absolute nightmare.

Almost let the reviews put me and my partner off as we are a young British couple on our first city break. We were dressed relatively smart, jacket and wearing black jeans and had no issue. Payed 10 euros to get in and got a free drink and 10 euros to play on the slots or the tables! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, just gambling low stakes and just having fun. I’d recommend!

I love casinos and was looking forward to a fun night out at this place which is advertised all over Venice. Unfortunately, it was the worst casino I have ever been into. The atmosphere is one of a funeral, the staff are rude and unhelpful, the drinks are expensive (not free like in most casinos) and they play a style of roulette where every player has the same chips and you have to remember where you put them. This led to at least one altercation while we were there with an argument over who had the winning chip. Ridiculous! They had to play a video back to see who had actually placed that chip. We were a party of 5 and we hated every moment of it. Couldn't wait to leave and will never go back. Discourteous, condescending staff, zero atmosphere, terrible style of roulette. I'll say no more. DO NOT BOTHER. Honestly.

It's our 3 rd night in Venice and my husband wanted to gamble. We were greeted by an extremely unfriendly staff. Upon reaching the entrance it looked like a place for scantly dressed teens or prostitutes. I saw nothing classy or 007 ish as other reviewers have said. My husband was in shorts but to be fair it's 100+ degrees in July and we walked all the way from our hotel at San Marco square.(very nice shorts by the way) Who the heck is wearing a suit? We could play slots they told us but no table games. What the hell do we look like a couple of old farts who rode all day in our minivan? We were ready to gamble annual salaries and we were only good enough for slots. No thank you! Never to return.

I had to get some sleep before writing this review to ensure the tone and language stayed in the 'moderately irritated' genre as opposed to the 'violently angry' side of TripAdvisor reviews.
Let's start with positives. The drinks aren't expensive (€4 for a Prosecco) and the building is nice.
So: the negatives. The security/doormen begin by welcoming you with a grimace as you make your way to the sign-in desk, or the 'let's make it as hard as possible to get into the casino' desk. After providing your DNA sample and leaving a lock of your hair with the unsmiling and rude desk staff, we were all set to go upstairs to the gaming rooms/bar...
...but wait! I needed a jacket to enter. In a swift reversal of the rest of Venice's policies, the men must cover up in this establishment. Hey, it's a classy place. I could deal with it. Except, you need €50 in cash as a deposit for said jacket. If you don't have €50, you don't get your entrance fee back. Obviously, the desk staff would not dare inform you of this as you pay your entrance fee.
So, fifty big ones down, I get thrown a jacket at me by another growling minion of the casino underworld. It's four sizes too big. She cares not. I look like I did at five years old when I used to try on my dad's suit jackets. But, alas, let's get out of here and onto the gaming...
...except there really isn't much gaming. There's a few electronic slots coupled with six or seven roulette tables. These tables were surrounded by no less than thirteen staff, suited and booted to the utmost to cope with the eight or nine gamblers who had made it through the administrative assault course to gain entry to the place itself. The mood resembled one of a funeral, everyone too afraid to speak aloud for fear of breaking the social norms of this gaming house of darkness.
Since the suit deposit robbed us of most of our gambling fund, we slung €10 in a poker machine and made a swift exit.
This casino is splashed all across Venice as a major tourist attraction. In ten years of going to a decent number of casinos, I have never been faced with such a rude, snooty, pig-ignorant attitude to fun as that in Venice.
Avoid. Always. Forever.

As many people have commented, the casino lacks atmosphere. The staff aren’t exactly welcoming and there isn’t much excitement in the place. Cocktails were quite good however so not a complete waste but wouldn’t really recommend for a night out unless you are just interested in going for the gambling only

If you're Asian and thinking to come here, forget it. Go to places where we will be treated like customers. Regret I didn't read the reviews here before proceeding.
Thought to end the evening with my wife and I hitting the slots and tables since we had free entry tickets to the casino before having dinner at the restaurant located inside the casino.
Walked in thru the rear entrance, and a big burly man pointed to the counter. Register there he barked.
Proceeded there, heart thumping, thinking of the fun we will have (I am an avid gambler). The check in counter lady looked like her entire family just DIED, and thinking I killed them. After providing her our passports, I duly handed over two waterbus tickets indicating free entry (I like free stuff). Another 5 minutes or so of fiddling with her computer, she handed the passports back to me but without the waterbus tickets. I told her they were still valid tickets, so I wanted them back. She passed me back 2 random tickets and I could tell one of them weren't mine as the back was different.
She didn't even bother to search for it, and told me I only gave her one. So it was 2 tickets at first, but when it was different somehow I handed her only one.
She proceeded to move on to the next customer and totally ignore me. I stood there like a fool searching my pockets and passports to locate my tickets. After 7 to 10 minutes standing there searching, the lady next to her reached down and grabbed a ticket from the floor. Alas the missing ticket was found. She handed it back to me, and duly turned away. Not an apology, not even a sorry look on her face. She claimed I lied and gave her only one ticket, and when the second was found, she just looked away. DISCRIMINATION I call it. My blood was boiling at that very moment and I pointed to her, saying "I DIDN'T LIE, I GAVE YOU TWO TICKETS" to which she grumbled to her partner and starred at me.
I walked out, noticing not even one poor soul in the slots area, and I was probably going to contribute to their earning that night. For god sakes, there are so many casinos in the world. Hope you close down really soon.
