Top ways to experience Fondamenta de Ca' Bala and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This street runs a short way along Rio de la Fornace, not far from Santa Maria della Salute. At the corner of Calle Bastion Dorsoduo and the Fondamenta, there is a spot for a nicely framed shot of Santa Maria delle Salute.

On every visit to the city, we always like to walk along this fondamenta which is at the side of a pretty typical venetian canal, which opens at one end onto the grande canale, and the other onto the guidecca canal

It has a bridge half way along, the second bridge is on the zattere, a hotel Messner with an outdoor terrace for dining.

Just a short walk from our hotel near San Salute, we turned went over a small bridge and turned left.

We can walk either side of this pretty very long canal which stretches from the Grande Canale right along to the Guidecca Canal.

It was a lovely sunny day,and we just slowly strolled along, so many interesting things to see. We passed severals small restaurants, an interesting shop making rowlocks for gondola's. - this holds the oar in 8 different positions for sterring the gondola.

At the end we were at the Guidecca canal.
