Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Where to begin! Our Cesarine experience was wonderful from start to finish. Our class was originally booked for Venice, but something came up and we had to try find another night of our trip to do it on. Thank you so much to Francesca for making a plan for us to still have our class in Verona and for the open and prompt communication, you managed our minor hiccup so smoothly and we really appreciated this! As luck would have it, we were so grateful to have the class moved to Verona, as we got to meet the wonderful Silvia Grillo, who welcomed us into her warm home with such grace and fun. We loved every minute of our class and highly recommend this experience to everyone travelling in Italy, especially if you are travelling by yourself or in smaller groups! It's a great way to get out and actually meet and spend time with someone who lives locally and to learn a great new skill and learn a little bit more about the place you're in!

We had an amazing cooking experience with Matilde! We were lucky enough to visit with her in her beautiful apartment in Lido and everything was outstanding. We were taught which ingredients make the best pasta, sauces and Tiramisu. Matilde took the time to explain and then demonstrate professional techniques to make beautiful and amazingly delicious food. We made 2 extraordinary fresh pasta dishes with heathy and delicious sauces. Along the way, we drank wonderful wine, ate fresh bruschetta and then were treated to the “Best in the World” Tiramisu! We got to see the secrets to what makes this traditional Italian dessert worthy of its reputation.

Anna is an amazing cook and an amazing teacher! She is delicate and elegant and it reflects in her food. We asked for a vegan class and she said yes, even practicing the day before to make sure her recipes were perfect! She explained each step perfectly and corrected us through the whole process in order that we would be able to repeat it on our own. She was also full of wonderful stories about her family and Venice and she gave us great advice for visiting and eating in the city. I highly recommend Anna as a cook and as a wonderful person!

Unfortunately, this experience wasn’t all that it was advertised to be. While the food was good, the experience was not great. We met our guide in the square and we walked to her apartment. She welcomed us in and explained we could make ravioli or risotto and tiramisu. She said both would be too much. She finally agreed to make small portions of both the pasta and risotto.
The experience was very minimally hands on. Our host made the pasta (we got to take turns kneading the dough) and filled the raviolis with pre-made filling. We took turns mixing the custard for dessert and assembling. We watched from a distance while our chef prepared the risotto. It was a lot of watching and not a lot of doing. About an hour into the experience we were offered the last of a bottle of white wine that had likely been opened for a day or two.
No espresso, apertivo, or nibbles as were advertised in “what is included”.
For the price of the experience, my friend and I were disappointed.
It was great to see how a local lives, and our host was very nice… the experience just left us disappointed. We were expecting so much more, especially given the price. ( the total of €260 for two people We could have had 2 nights of incredible meals out at any of the fabulous restaurants in Venice and enjoyed our time more.)
I hesitate to ever write a negative review, but I feel as though others should be warned. Perhaps we hit it at a bad time, but it was not what the other reviews raved about.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback.
We truly regret to hear that you felt like the value of this tour didn’t match up to the price you paid. We always go the extra mile to make sure you’re getting what you paid for – not just in terms of the finest Italian food, but also the quality of our local hosts, and high-end hospitality.
We were very concerned to hear your comments, as we have never had any negative reviews in the past about your host, which is actually one of the best we have.
As for the cooking class, Italian cuisine is mostly based on long preparations that can even require more than 3 hours. That's why it can happen that sometimes our Cesarine prepare some ingredients in advance, especially when a long cooking is required. Moreover, some ingredients also need to cool down very well before the use, otherwise the final dish will be a complete disaster (such as the filling of ravioli).
In any case, our hosts only provide fresh and authentic Italian food typical of the region and according to the family's recipes.
We very much hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in Italy.
Warm regards,
Cesarine Team

HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! 3 hours prior to my family's cooking lesson we called the person we were supposed to have our lesson with to get clarification on the meeting address because even our hotel in Venice didn't know where it was. When we called, we were told it had been canceled a week ago. Immediately write to Cesarine Cooking to let them know this was unprofessional and left us with no plans and no food. We booked a family excursion and decided to make the best of it. Then we get an email saying it wasn't canceled. We wrote explaining that we no longer could make it and because they canceled we expected a refund. They said they had switched cooks WITHOUT telling us or sending any type of email alerting us to a change and that the new code information had recently been sent to us. How would we possibly know to compare names of cooks and phone numbers from email to email when è were never alerted there had been a change?! Despite our obvious disappointment and anger nobody called us to handle the situation. We simply received an email saying they were sorry but we were being charged almost $500. So if this is the type of company that you would like to do business with, please proceed with them. Otherwise, I would STRONGLY advise you to stay as far away from Cesarine Cooking as you can!!!

An intimate cooking class with warm welcoming hosts. Mama’s house is charming and the cooking instructors were encouraging and patient. After making Tiramisu and two kinds on pasta from scratch we were given a delicious meal complete with wine. Definitely recommend!!!

A group event turned solo when a family that was suppose to join had a flight cancellation. The fact that it was just me for a cooking class didn’t deter Matilde and she was ready and engaging. I learned how to make pasta and Matilde showed me the different shapes. She explained the process and has a vast knowledge of food and their localities. We had a wonderful meal together and had great conversation!
