About
DiscoveringVenice is run by Antonella, Eugenia and Federica. We are Registered Tourist Guides since 2000. We offer a wide range of private tours. We also offer semi-private tours: a perfect way to share costs with other travellers like you. The private tours we organize can be either on foot or by private boat (Gran Canal, small canals, islands of the lagoon - Murano, Burano, Torcello). We are keen to organize customized exclusive tours to make you discover the "hidden Venice" and its back-streets, as well as the monumental classic Venice.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just got back from an amazing trip to Venice with my girlfriend. I had been to Venice and toured it extensively in 2018 but my girlfriend had never been there. I researched private tours and found Discovery Venice here on Trip Advisor. They also have a very nice website that gives you a lot of choices for the type of tour you would like to do. Communicating with Federica (one of the owners) was easy via email and she found out the type of things we wanted to do or see and came up with a suggested itinerary. In this case, we did two half days of touring. One was on Venice proper and seeing all the main sights and hidden gems and the second day was a private tour of Murano and Burano where we toured a glass factory and bought some murano glass and some lace.

I cant say enough about Federica. She is incredibly knowledgeable about her home town of Venice and easy to get a long with. Pricing was perfect for our two person private tour (Honestly, you can spend twice as much elsewhere and get half as much!). Federica even booked some additional sites to visit so that we could get a birds eye view of the entire city. We even started off our morning with a brief pictoral and geographic overview of the entire lagoon when she arrived at our hotel. There is soooooo much to do and see in Venice and truly4 hours each day wasnt enough but Federica made it worth our while. She even suggested some great places to eat and additional places to visit when we DIDNT have her with us so we got to explore even more stuff that we would not have seen had we not worked with her. I will be back to Venice again in the future (it is one of my most favorite places on the planet) and I would feel comfortable hiring Federica anytime I am there.

For those planning a trip to Venice, I would recommend two half day private tours. One that explores the main island for 4 hours and then a second day touring the outer islands of murano, and burano. Be sure to leave plenty of time to explore on your own and get "lost" exploring the hundreds of canals and walkways.

Thank you Federica and Discovering Venice for an incredible couple of days!

I began corresponding with Federica Chiuch more than a year prior to our trip to Venice and she was exceptional at promptly answering my many questions and developing our itinerary. Additionally, she was even more amazing when we had to alter our plans because of the extreme rainy weather and she was the consummate professional in making sure we got to see and do all of the things we wanted to do. I would highly recommend Federica to anyone who wanted a very knowledgeable guide to show them the marvelous sites in Venice. She is totally outstanding with a very outgoing engaging personality.

I had such a wonderful time the last time I had the pleasure of being guided by Federica, that I knew I needed to book with her again when returning with my family to Venice this year. I was blown away yet again by Federica's perceptive, intelligent and well researched local insight which really brought so much colour and context to our experience. We booked a two day guided tour with Federica including a tour of the main sights in Venice as well as a boat tour to Burano and Murano. She is the only guide I would recommend to others, and who I would call again when returning to Venice. For those who are looking for Mandarin interpretation - Federica also speaks Mandarin! Thank you again for another wonderful experience!

We enjoyed our tour of Venice with Federica during our honeymoon. Our tour included a walking and boat tour of the city, over about 4 hours. Federica was always very polite, friendly, knowledgeable and was great at conveying her knowledge to us as we went about the city. She met us at our hotel, Daniele and we walked from there to inside St. Mark's church (we got the tickets ahead of time per Federica's advice so we could skip the long line, highly recommended!). After St. Marks we toured the Doge's Palace. From there we jumped on a boat and toured the city via water, where Federica pointed out many interesting buildings and was gracious with taking wonderful photos of us to remember the most romantic city ever! Thank you Federica for your hospitality, gracious guidance and excellent knowledge on the tour. Cheers from Austin, Texas USA!

Our Jewish Ghetto Tour of Venice was led by Lucia. She was a lovely young woman who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the Jewish people in her city. We covered a lot of ground, both physically and historically in the two hours time. I feel like she packed a lot of meaningful information into her tour, and relayed it in an impactful manner, without being heavy handed or overly scholarly. She had just the right balance between seriousness and lightheartedness to make the difficult pieces of historical fact not weigh so heavily as to keep the tour from moving on. It’s a delicate balance and she handled it very well. If you are ever in Venice, regardless of your religious background, I believe you should take Lucia’s tour. It’s well worth the time and you will be glad you did.

Federica met us at our hotel and walked us around the city in the morning and everything was perfect. She took us down some quieter streets and it felt very intimate and secluded even thought we were in a busy city. We then took a boat tour in the afternoon to Murano and Burano. Federica was so knowledgeable and insightful and we learned so much during the day and saw so many great things. Highly recommend!

Federica was fantastic! We highly recommend doing a private walking tour of Venice as the streets are very narrow. Federica was kind, informative, and provided a wonderful mix of history and personal insights about Venice. Great tour!

We booked two tours with Federica for our first two days in Venice. Our visit to Doge’s Palace was enriched by her deep knowledge of Venetian history and art. Our second tour covered many areas of Venice with an emphasis on the arts. It was a perfect foundation for our remaining time in Venice. Federica is a phenomenal guide!

This tour has been the highlight of our European vacation. Francesca Zanatta is a wonder! It was nearly seven hours that began with beautiful visits to the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica. In each visit, she wove wonderful information with engaging stories and was always, always compelling in her presentation. From there we did a walking "hidden gems" tour of the city. Imagine you were moving to Venice and your best friend lived there, and she agreed to show you everything about the city she loves so much. THAT is what it felt like. After a lunch on the Grand Canal, we took a beautiful, vintage wooden water taxi out of the canal, into the lagoon, and circumnavigated a large portion of the island. It's such a treat seeing it from the water.

If we're lucky enough to return to Venice, I would seek Francesca out to find out what other treasures she could share with us in the city she loves so much.

Don't miss it!!

We had both been to Venice several times before but, because of Covid, the last time was 10 years previously. We had seen Saint Mark’s, the Doge’s Palace, the Ghetto, Canareggio, Arsenals and the other islands in the lagoon. So a guided tour of lesser known attractions in Dorsodura was a pleasant addition.

Federica was punctual, pleasant and spoke perfectly good, if heavily accented, English. She had a well planned route, was perfectly knowledgable about all the stops and willing to answer questions. In short, the perfect guide. If I were to be pedantic, a little more structured linking of the info would have helped as, after over 2 hours, we both felt a little overwhelmed. That’s a lot better than feeling undersold.

Mille grazie ancora per una mattina perfetta
