The area
Neighbourhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

I booked tickets for the concert-Interpreti Veneziani-before we arrived in Venice as I didn't want to take the chance of not being able to get tickets day of. That wasn't an issue when we were here on 8/31/2023. Plenty of people were lined up to buy tickets at the entrance to this church which is the venue for the concert. Cost 50€/$54.22 for the 2 of us.

I believe we got off at the Accademia vaporetto stop and walked a little to get to the church. The concert we are attending is Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Pieces we will hear are Primavera, Estate, Autunno, and Inferno. We also will hear some other pieces of Vivaldi's work. We arrived early and others are here also. But we weren't allowed in until about 15 minutes before the scheduled 9:00 pm start of the concert. Since I had booked our tickets on line we just gave our names to the woman who checked us off her list. We were given a program which was nice and we were told no photos and no video permitted. During the concert there were just a few who disregarded the rules and were taking pictures and/or video. The concert ended around 10:15 pm.

The church itself is beautiful and well worth a look around. Lovely artwork. There were also displays of musical instruments-mostly violins.

The seats were comfortable and not cramped. The ensemble Interpreti Veneziani consisted of several violinists-think maybe 4 or 5? I wish I had written information down but I usually rely on my photos which didn't happen this evening. There also was a guy who played the cello. All the musicians were excellent and played Vivaldi's music with such passion/feeling. They were given a standing ovation. I loved every minute and even my husband said he was glad we did this.

I loved the music so much that I purchased a CD of Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed by Interpreti Veneziani. Cost 17€/$18.61. There were several CDs and such for sale on a table in the church after the concert.

After we left the church we walked to the Accademia Bridge to take in the beauty of the night. The Grand Canal is lovely at night. Then we took the vaporetto back to our hotel. It was such a great evening of wonderful music! Highly recommended.

What an amazingly, brilliant concert in this beautiful church. The musicians are world renowned and are truly fantastic. To sit back and listen to Vivaldi played with such passion and precision was a real treat. It was such an inspiring concert that we bought tickets to go the next evening as well to watch a different set of pieces.
The ‘no mobile phone’ regulation also meant that there was no distraction from people browsing their phones through the concert. (Which can be very distracting)
Can highly recommend these concerts. The best in Venice by a long shot.

The church is a concert venue. We had a very pleasant evening experiencing Interpreti Veneziani's Vivaldi's Four Seasons. An event not to be missed if you happen to be in Venice when they're playing.

Church of San Vidal is primarily a concert venue these days, and you will certainly enjoy a classical music performance in its space. Nice Baroque features are apparent, but not anything superior.

We attended a classical concert in this church a few years ago in summer - it was a bit hot. But, since it was october we knew we were not going to sweat. We are so glad we gave it another try. It was breathtaking. They played several Vivaldi pieces. Pieces that were familiar and moving. The cellist was a show by himself. He truly felt every note he played. The entire group was magnificent. We did not want it to end.

This is our 3rd time at this beautiful church to listen to Vivaldi’s 4 seasons. We always go on the evening Davide Maddeus is playing as he is so entertaining and passionate when playing his Cello.

Interesting church. I primarily visited to see the collection of violins but was disappointed as most of the instruments are from the 20th century. Nice church in itself.

Beautiful church rebuilt in 17th century on a previous medieval church. The design was made by Andrea Tilari with clearly refers to the school of Palladio. Beautiful classic facade with marble statues and gigantic columns.
To note the two side are not for lateral internal naves but they hide two palaces, for this reason the internal is with only one nave.
The church is sconsacrate and used for concerts of classical music.
The lateral altars and the main altar are all with beautiful paintings designed by Sebastiano Ricci, Giovan Battista Piazzetta, Angeli Trevisan and Vittore Carpaccio. On the main altar you can see two marble statues by Antonio Gay.
