We passed through the Arco della Costa, heading from Piazza delle Erbe to Pizza dei Signori, to look at the beautiful old buildings for which this square is known (architecturally and historically). Instead, we came upon a huge Christmas market and could barely see beyond the myriad stalls and throngs of people. I had to edge my way to the... More

I say well hidden because all the tourist maps say its there but I eventually found it, and there was a Christmas market going on, and the buildings around it are beautiful - well worth a visit.

Beautiful piazza, buildings are very nice. It was fairly crowded, as Christmas market had been set up here. Be sure to look for the "whalebone"

Another hidden gem surrounded by stylish buildings and high end restaurants. A perfect place off the main tourist areas to enjoy.

A pretty square with a large statue of Dante in the centre. (Hence it's also called Piazza Dante) There is also the hanging whale rib which is said to fall on the first person who's never lied!) but it's currently hidden behind some scaffolding (tastefully done). Lots of nice buildings to admire, too.

Here (nearby) you find the entrance to the torri dei Lamberti. It's a smaller piazza (in comparing to piazza delle erbe and piazza bra) and it seems it would be more quiet but we made a citytour at sunday 30/10/16 and at that time there was a market and free food (free gift) so we can 't really say. It... More

At the weekend this square hosted a medeaval market, which was very good, lots of things to buy, stall holders were dressed up in traditional costumes and all surrounded by some lovely architecture.

With cafes and restaurants around this is a nice quiet corner where you can take a break from your busy day.
