It gives you a brilliant perception of the set out of the old city. You can see the port, the marina and have a sea view as well as being able to identify focal points in the Citta Vecchia. If you walk on the top of the old city wall, within 5 minutes you'll be able to identify Basilica San Nicola, and if you walk a bit further you'll come to the Norman Castle from which there are spectacular views over the centro historico!

One can climb the walls of the old city from various points, however the most memorable were at one end of it from a staircase on the right of St Nicholas Cathedral just beyond the archway in the street, or from the other end next to the old port past Piazza del Ferrarese. Visited just after sundown and the place was magical. The seaview and strand view is stupendous and the walkway itself is well illuminated. Would recommend highly and its free too.

One can easily reach the Muraglia on foot. There is a lot to see in a compact area! The area is a living community though and not just a museum piece, so be respectful and do not take photos if you think people might be offended. The museum is worth a look but the 5 Euro entry fee is quite a lot for a small exhibit. I suggest after the visit having a walk along the sea front.

Beautiful, clean, worth visiting. I didn't imagine Bari like this. Continuing inside the old village, it's nice to see the locals gathered to talk outside and always friendly and helpful. They gave us some advice on buying the famous orecchiette made by local ladies:
Warning: don't buy the colored ones and ask for the handmade ones, because in the quantity they sell per day there are also industrial, commercial ones. We had a good time with Mrs. Angela (called Lina by the neighbors).

Definitely a must and a surprise. Expecting old walls and found a thoroughfare. Very hot but a good breeze and nipped from shade to shade

Nice antic site in the old town of Bari, a low wall around the old city with many columns,
benchs to have a sit, and a splendis view to the sea; ideal for walks and to admire the old town illuminated in the evening.

The view it offers to the city and the seafront is fantastic.

I don't know why I liked this, but it was pleasant enough to do 3-4 times during my visit. I would just stand and watch things in the port or sit on the rare bench.

I am trying to find the location where the ship blew up in April 1945. Per articles, it was at Berth 14, port of Bari. Does anyone know if there is a historical marker or anything to find it?
