Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ok, this is a sandy beach next to the city center. This is the only advantage. The quality of water is poor, I would not dare to swim there. You cannot rent a bed, it is a community beach so always very crowded. Only one bar at the beach, but in proximity some restaurants to eat a lunch.

We were staying in the Bari Old Town so this was the closest beach. Once we figured out how the buses worked i.e. go to a tabacerria and buy either 2.5 Euro day passes or 1 Euro single tickets we took the bus about 8 stops. Morning or afternoon we were never more than 20 metres from the water. There's nowhere to hire any beach stuff so bring what you need. There is no ice-cream/cafe/bar on the beach itself but on the opposite side of the road is a place that sells all that

The beach is sandy and very clean, it has free very nice toilettes and showers and there is also trees if you wish to lay in the shade. There are multiple coast guards so it is safe as well. The water is shallow but there is also deeper parts for swimming and snorkeling. The water is very clean and warm, even in the end of June and at night as well. During the week there is not much people, only on weekends, but even with all the crowd, the water is still nice. This is the best beach we have ever visited, we truly had the best time.

Our travel plans from Dubrobnik to Corfu resulted in us having to take two overnight ferries via Bari, Italy where we had a whole day to fill. My research indicated there were a lot of historic sites to see in Bari but having already spent a month travelling through Europe we had visited our quota of churches/castles/museums for this trip. Bari is predominately a port town but there is surprisingly a lovely city beach located about an hours walk along the promenade south of the main harbour. You can leave your luggage for 4 euros per bag at the Superfast ferry terminal (if arriving from Croatia walk out of the terminal, turn left & it will be the next terminal along, about a 10 minute walk). Signs indicate the left baggage office opens at 9am but we waited until 11am for someone to appear. However, just outside there is a food outlet that opens early & has good food and good coffee with free wifi. After the pleasant stroll along the promenade you will arrive at Pane e Pomodoro Beach, a sandy beach where the water is clean and refreshing. There's also plenty of shade and grass areas as well as a great cafe/bar with lots of seating and the bonus, icy cold peroni for only 1.50 euros. We finish off our day in Bari with a delicious Italian dinner at a groovy little restaurant/bar in the back streets of the Old Town. Regretfully I don't recall the name but there are plenty it choose from. All in all, we enjoyed our one day in Bari, made so much more pleasant with a few hours relaxing on the beach.

The beach is dirty, overcrowded, there're a lot of merchants and almost all smoke on the beach. But it's not a big problem. The big problem is that the beach is situated next to Matteotti street where every heavy fall of rain over-floods sewerage and all wastes from canalization and streets stream to the sea! It's about 250-300 meters from the beach. Officials close the beach but it doesn't prevent people from swimming.
I was in Bari for a week and it repeated twice. Read Italian news about the beach and make sure that it's dangerous place to swim. See the picture I captured from Metteotti street during rain.

During the week it was virtually empty but became increasingly crowded at the weekend. It is a small beach with no tide to speak of and it protected by rock walls some 50 metres from the beach.

There is a lot of marine life so I recommend snorkelling. There are thousands of bream, octopi and hermit crabs to entertain kids. There wasn't any real current and the rock walls can be reached by wading mostly.

on the downside, despite the large number of bins on the sand and constant patrols by cleaners there is an awful lot of rubbish just left by people, including more cigarette ends than imaginable. It might be advisable to wear beach shoes or flip flops as there are beer bottle tops and broken glass also.

Nice beach but be VERY CAREFUL at thiefs. Is a very dangerous area, even carabinieri told us that. We rent a brand new car yesterday and we parked near the beach. Somebody followed us and saw that we were foreigns and being on the beach they cracked our window and stole the luggage. We had to pay also 400 ero for window. Please avoid Bari. Really strange people

Free sandy beach with shallow bay, lovely for children. No sunbeds or umbrellas to hire so take them with you. Take bus 12 or 42.

There is a very pleasant walk along the harbour wall for about 20-30 minutes from bari old town to get here. Pleasant surprise was it was sandy although the picture looked rocky. It is not large so I am sure gets busy. They have free lockers to keep your important belongings in and somewhere to get undressed. There was no beds or umbrellas on the section we were on. There were clean public toilets just 2 minutes walk from the beach. The beach bar was very good - and the food delicious. We had a flat bread made on site with Parma ham and mozzarella.....very delicious and not expensive. Unfortunately we couldn't go in the sea as it was not clean at the time and the police were there warning people not to swim.

The city of Bari provided for this beach with sandy shores, a great view, surrounding park and a restaurant. Yes, you always should be careful of your belongings. The beach offers free lockers for your valuable stuff. Also showers, changing rooms and toilets are provided. I really liked the atmosphere brought by the many Italians (on weekends) sitting side by side, sharing food and (some of them) being pretty loud. If the bustle gets too much, just find yourself a place in the shade of the many trees and bushes. The beach is in walking distance of the old city (20 mins). There are people on the beach that want to sell you stuff like towels and whatelse not. The only thing I didn't really like about this place.
