In all of my travels, I have seldom found as impressive a place. The Caves themselves are amongst the best I have ever seen on the world. Unlike too many caves, these are preserved and presented in a tasteful and natural setting. To get to the caves requires the descent of 648 stairs that hug sheer cliff to the sea... More

One of the "must's" at Sardegna Island. Be advised that if you visit by walking, after reaching by car, you will have to go over 400 steps, but is it really an amazing area where you'll be able to take spectacular pictures from cliffs as well as from inside the cave.

I recommend coming here as soon as possible even off season time. For 9 AM and 10 AM tour there were about 20 people. Latter I could see more people to come. You can come by boat from Alghero(entrance fee is not included usually for this trip) or by public bus. But there check the time table as there not... More

See also vertical cliffs for our full review. Those are the way you approach this, unless you want the easy boat option from Alghero.....

This is a must do for lovers of boat trips. Out into the open sea with great views back to Alghero and then Neptune's grotto. Carved into the cliffs by the sea these caves are a sight for sore eyes. You can feel the smooth surface of the stone which feels like wax. The trip is also good for getting... More

If you are going to Sardinia this is a place that you should not miss. Going thru all the 650 steps up and down (and I am not even that fit) is really exhausting but you will be unmindful of it ones you see those majestic views of sea and cliffs it is really a one of a kind... So... More

We took a tourist boat from Alghero to these caves and they are large with relatively easy access. Eat you heart out Cheddar Gorge / Wookey Hole! Was pretty crowded and conveyor-belty, but it was August!

We, a family of three with an 8 years old daughter, visited the cave. We were early enough (9h45) to have a good parking spot and go down the stairs while they were still in the shadow, i.e. it's not too hot. I would advise to go there even earlier, at 9h00 in the main July-August season, as you will... More

Took a boat trip for 15€ from Alghero to visit the Grotto. It was definitely worth the money as that way you can avoid the long stairs to the cave from the top of the hill. The boat goes directly to the cave entrance, entrance fee was not included in the trip. The cave itself is nice, although it was... More
