A chance to get into the Sardinian hinterland

We caught the Green train in Arbatax all the way to Sassari. It had 1 stop for a quick coffee and comfort break. The coffee was good, strong and fast, so everyone managed to get a... read more

We were unable to get any online information from ARST, our hotel had received no timetables from them. Following the advice given to us by Arbatax Park, we went over the ticket agency at Arbatax port, only to discover that there is a problem with the line and no train service. This was unfortunate as we had returned to the... More

Unfortunately the green train is not running to arbatax tho due to start today. Tourist office says there is a problem with the track near lanusei. It is possible that some of the line from mandax is running but there seems to be no info. Such a shame as it is a wonderful route. Visited the station at Lanusei yesterday,... More

We caught the Green train in Arbatax all the way to Sassari. It had 1 stop for a quick coffee and comfort break. The coffee was good, strong and fast, so everyone managed to get a cup in the 10 minutes we were there. Views over the bridges and gorges were fabulous, then we had a couple of hours wandering... Il Trenino Verde is a beautiful trip by a little green train that takes you from Mandas to Seui and far in the mountains, but we stopped to Seui. We had at a point three guides very well-informed, kind and friendly, who made a trip we will never forget. We visited Seui, a mining town in the mountains, we tasted... More

We went from Isili to Sorgono. The trip was great; a friendly bunch of people on the train, lovely little stations, friendly staff. You should take on of the train trips if you're going to this island. A friendly advice to the Italian railways: please make your website www.treninoverde.com also available in English, French and German. This will most certainly... More

We try line from Arbatax with dinner included. If you have small children, consider to select short 2-3 hours trip. And prepare for amazing views, green mountains and authentic meal.

This special railways Cy propose 4 distinct circuit around Sardinia. The big one start at Arbatax and last about 7 hours. You will see Sardinia country side landscape and history. This island is somewhere an natural oasis in the middle of Europe and with the Trenino Verde you will be pat of this experience.

Highly recommend a wonderful day out on the Trenino Verde from Arbatax to Sadali. Travel through sensational countryside and enjoy a day exploring the rugged interior of this beautiful island! Importantly, use it or lose it. There are moves afoot to shut this operation down, which would be catastrophic for many wonderful people and businesses along the route. It is... More

We travelled between the port of Palau and Tempio Pausanio. The trip takes around 2 hours and passes wonderful and varying landscape. Coaches are from 1930 with wooden benches, and overall this trip could be rewarding for everyone, not only for train nerds like myself.

We travelled from Tortoli to Sadali on the trenino verde on 19th July and on the way back down the train suddenly de-railed. We're unsure why it happened, as none of the train staff could speak English, and even once we transferred to another train, nobody explained or apologised for what was a very frightening incident. We were in the... More
