Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I travelled from London for my birthday in October 2019. We arrived at the Teatro Bellini for the concert to find it closed, the concert had been postponed by 1 week (too late for us!) and we had not been informed. The only info was a cancellation notice posted on their website on the day of the concert.

To my request for a refund, they responded: “The theater is going through a difficult economic period and we had to move the dates of some concerts.
We will soon refund your tickets and in any case by the end of the year..”
It is now March 2nd 2020 and Teatro Bellini still owe me 80 euros and have not replied to all my subsequent emails and phone calls since Oct 2019.

Theatre building outside is amazing but the tour was very disappointing. Firstly the guide told us her English wasn’t up to taking it but she’d reduce the cost to €4.50. Then when we arrived at the auditorium there was a rehearsal going on so we were only allowed in for a minute. One couple were insisting on a refund which we should have done too. A proper tour would have been worthwhile so do check.

Attended this superb theatre for a performance of Handel's Messiah. The performers were excellent including a great choir. The Hallelujah Chorus was stirring and encored. Memorable.
However never in my experience of attending live performances worldwide have I before come across the absolute crassness and utter bastardry of the audience. Many filming the performance on their phones. Arguably understandable. But scrolling through photos of babies and farm animals? Texting god knows what to god knows who. An argument that held up the second half of the performance. And then the halitosis.
Extraordinary.
The theatre is a must see. But Catanian audience? Not a good look.

A great historical theater, you can also see it from the outside. In our case we only saw the outside. In August visits are suspended, as was customary until twenty years ago. Then many institutions became aware of summer tourism, that cities in August are invaded by tourists, many foreigners, curious about Italian history and culture.
This institution didn't notice, too bad. With the lost revenue, the maintenance of the theater's exterior could perhaps be improved...

The interior of this theatre is breathtaking. It's a fabulous example of an Italian opera house with wonderful acoustics. Our guide was excellent. Well worth an hour of your time. You're supposed to book by emailing guidect.eventi@gmail.com. But if you show up at 10 or 11am Tuesday to Saturday you may well be able to join a tour without pre-booking. It's certainly worth a try.

Even though it is my city, I had never entered this theater which is already beautiful from the outside. I had many expectations and had visited other opera houses. Despite this, as soon as I entered I was left speechless. It was wonderful! It was all lit up and well restored. I can't find another adjective other than "wonderful". Strange, I felt at home, in my place even though I'm neither a musician nor a singer.

Why this attraction isn't listed higher on the must-see of Catania I don't know. The theatre is stunning and the tour made us appreciate it even more. Good coffee opposite the theatre too
Highly recommend.

From the outside the Opera House looks splendid. It reminds me of the faςade of the Vienna State Opera House, but smaller. Unfortunately it was not open when I was there but I'd love to go back and see one of the great Italian operas if I get the chance.

Visited on a Monday. Not open. Could only view the outside, which was a shame. It is in need of a good clean as it is a sensational architectural design. Touring the inside would be amazing. Guided tours every morning (except Monday).
