This is a beautifully constructed and adorned edifice located in an attractive square. What I found particularly appealing is that the interior, while may less prepossessing than others in Europe, was delightfully warm and bright- especially the sanctuary ceiling above the altar. The whole area is appealing and you can enjoy a beverage on Via Etna and peer at the... More

This is the obvious place to start sightseeing in Catania. Visit and climb the dome of Chiesa della Badia di Sant'Agata, see the Elephant statue symbol of Catania, visit the duomo, see the Fontana dell'Amenano, go behind the fountain to the fish and produce market, There is a little train ride which will give you an overview of the city.... The piazza is the nicest part of Catania. It is wide and open, filled with hawkers selling candles and St Agneta tat. There are oodles of dogs and children, particularly because I went on a Sunday after mass. You can get a good look at the cathedral and the duomo from there so most people in the piazza are taking... Beautiful piece of architecture, central in the city. Nice place around with sympathetic small eating places.

This was one of my favourite parts of the city, it is a meeting place for young and old and bustling any time of the day. Somewhere to sit with a coffee and try the delicious cannolo at Café Duomo, while taking in the brilliant architecture of the surrounding buildings steeped in history. A step through through the arch will... More

We decided to have a day trip to Sicily while we were on holiday in Malta. We were warned by our rep before visiting that it is dangerous in Catania but as we had already booked flights we decided to still go. The tours were double the price and it was cheaper to fly so we still went ahead. Our... More

A beautiful square in the historic centre of town. The cathedral is just lovely inside. It's free to enter. They close at noon for a bit, though. The square is lively and full of people of all ages. very enjoyable area to have a bite to eat and people watch. The architecture here is magnificent.

We went to a service here and lit some candles for loved ones that have passed. It is worth visiting and is a typical sicilian cathedral
