when I started my journey to Palermo, I didn't know where to stay, so I must have booked 30 hotels, true story, but I listened to Vagabonda to stay in the Politeama area. We chose Hotel Garibaldi and when we opened the door to the...More

Honestly, it was depressing and sad to see this building in such poor condition. It looked very unkepted: garbage around, iron gate around it, broken windows, washed-out colours; a very tired looking building. Sadly, we were unable to go inside. We actually thought it was...More

We did not go in the theatre to see any performance, as we have spent only one day at Palermo, but we were pleased we could have just a look into this building. We love architecture and this building is magnificent!

The guided tour was in English and although the guide talked pretty fast, you could understand the important things. The theatre itself was amazing!

We arrived early to catch the City Sightseeing Bus and took the opportunity to explore the nearby piazza. This grand building was our first stop, gates locked and chained possibly due to the early hour, and we had to be satisfied with external views. The...More

Palermo has two Opera houses. This one and Teatro Massimo. Teatro Politeama is completely different to the opera houses we are used to. This opera house is older than Teatro Massimo and well worth a visit. You can get to this opera house by making...More

Palermo can boast two first-class theatres - this one and Teatro Massimo. The outside looks like it could do with a good repainting. The inside is elegant and comfortable, with excellent acoustic from every side.

I bought a ticket for the Symphony Orchestra of Sicily so that I could see inside this marvellous building. The ticket wasn't much, 12 euros, and there were lots of unsold seats, so it was easy to find a better seat. The orchestra was good...More

The building is a mixture between paintings, statues, architecture and styles. In the front is very beautiful with a big city environment , in the back is beautiful too but different. ...with a ghetto area, eclectic and very dirty as well.
