Enjoyed the architecture of the church more than the fountain. Located right near one of the main outdoor markets for the city which is really interesting to walk through and worth the time.

After walking around in the Aug. heat for hours, for some reason no one was really here. I found myself thinking what a prefect place, and of all the people who had enjoy it before me.

Apparently this fountain was designed and created for another location and in the end erected here just off the main crossroads in Old Palermo. It is large and interesting with many animals playing their roles in creating sprays of water. It is definately worth seeing but it's cramped site is not a good place for such a pompous showey display... More

Lots of statues around a large fountain in a square. Well worth the walk to have a look. Nothing else to say really.

Off the Via Maqueda, this piazza is beautiful and the centerpiece of an interesting area. Go at night too as it is gorgeous lit up. Nice coffee shop down the alley behind the pizza. Great spot to linger and people watch.

Piazza Pretoria got nicknamed Piazza della Vergogna (the square of shame) because of the nude sculptures that were put right in front of the church. A Belgian teacher told her pupils it was because the fountain turned out to be too expensive. Maybe, but it's not the main reason. We were told this by the Polizia Municipale standing in front... We were very lucky to be here immediately following a heavy rain shower. There was no one at the site and a great opportunity for photos. Loved all the details especially all the animal spouts. Have seen a lot of fountains in our travels but this is one of our favourites because it is so interesting from so many angles.... More

This fountain is notorious...the nuns once cut off the noses of the nude statues in protest of their nudity. The fountain has since been restored and for the first time since i first saw this fountain 10 years ago you can now walk on the fountain instead of just seeing it on the periphery behind a fence. This gives you... More
