Ortigia is one of the cutest beach towns in Sicily and the Piazza Duomo is by far one of the most striking Piazzas, especially at night. It is a must see and you must take a passagiata after dinner. Truly inspiring place.

Visiting the Piazza Duomo when touring Syracuse is essential. The outside is impressive enough but the inside is even better. Allow time because it is very popular.

Don't miss the main square of the city! Beautiful place and interesting architecture of the cathedral. Take a seat at one of the restaurants, have something local to eat and drink, watch people go by and relax.

Grab a gelato, grab a spritz, just head somewhere and chill out for a while. The piazza can get hot due to the reflective stone, but it a great place to people watch and absorb history at the same time.

Sit in the pews and admire the Roman columns holding up the roof. You can get sense of the history of Syracuse inside the cathedral that we did not get outside in the street.

Beautiful square and cathedral, totally unexpected and breathtaking. Really interesting history and extraordinary that it has survived over so many turbulent years.

The development of this Duomo is well documented and well displayed. A small admission charge is great value and monies invested have been well spent.
