great hike, wonderful swim

Ignore the sign that says the walk is unsafe. It's a perfectly normal hike (although a stiff descend/climb) for anyone with a normal constitution.

If you like hiking, this is a place for you. Don’t come here in July or August, it would be simply too much tourists. It will ruin your experience. Even in mid-October there were several dozen hikers, and this is not very huge place… Take good hiking shoes with hard sole, plenty of water and picnic. You will also need... More

The nature you will find here is totally pure and inaltered by men. You have to take a look at this reserve.

If you are not willing to hike down and then up the mountain again to experience this little wet paradise in the dry Sicily. Then don't!! My girlfriend and I loved it, the ice cold fresh mountain water, the crystal clear pools, hot stones and jumping from cliffs into the deepest pits of fresh water pools. It's a great fat-burner,... Cavagrande is a canyon with natural pools at the bottom. Despite being 'closed' since 2014, due to loose boulders, this doesn't deter the crowds of tourist and locals visiting the attraction (or the car park attendant or restaurant owner!) The drive is over a twisty mountain road, from which you can see tunnels and caves built into the rock face.... More

We were told to stop at Laghetti Cavagrande on our way to Noto. It is a canyon and at the bottom there are some natural pools. As we went in august it was very hot and the idea of refreshing ourselves in those pools was a massive motivation. There is a 40 to 45 minute descent on stoney, rocky trails... More

It is about 1h drive from Syracuse. It is a beautiful Valley but it is very hot during august . You have a 45 min walk down to get to a very nice lac where you can swim . The hike up is a bit hard (3/5) ; therefore, you need to have hiking shoes , water and it is... More

Always a treat to find a natural wonder with no road, no cafe, no services, and this is a real treat. Don't be part of the silly brigade that tries to walk down the reasonably steep and tricky path in flip flops, or even better one Italian lady in 4" stacks; trainers are best. The 35-55min walk, depending upon your... More

Yes, it's a tough walk down and up but it was really worth it! Bring good walking shoes, water and salty snacks. Went with my 1,5 yo boy on my back, and that too worked well. The walk is tough but not difficult and feels safe. Me, my husband and our little guy loved it down in the "pools". It... More

Firstly, the path (and therefore gate) is officially closed, however in true Italian style, this has been overcome by somebody removing some fencing...the restaurant owner told us it was closed, but no problem ... Ok, so if you can make the (slightly risky) first few meters and get onto the official path, you will probably be able to make the... More
