Unlike so many churches, Santa Catarina always seems to be open. Two interesting modern paintings at back of the church, either side of the entrance; one is a powerful , calvary subject , dark and full of pathos - the other a kitsch Madonna -...More

Although Taormina has numerous churches, this is one pretty lovely specimen and it's standing out. Also, it's the first church you'll come across if you're entering Taormina via Porta Messina.

You don't have to make a separate trip to view this church. Its right on the main street called Corso Umberto where all the action is. The church is small and you could visit this place in 5 minutes.

Visit the place while you are making your evening walk as there is not much to do in Taormina. It is better to visit after dark and you will enjoy this small church with some lovely paintings.
