Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide showed us this place, I'm afraid we wouldn't get to find this place without recommendations. The church was built in rocks and our guide told us that she believes that this place is sacral and people come here for help if they lose any hope. Another great part of this church is a fantastic view!

Loved this, climbed up the steps near to our hotel (Splendid) and the view was amazing. Take water and snacks and be sure to stop often in the shady patches as it’s a half hour climb up but worth it. There’s the little church at the top which is beautiful and also a cafe with some lovely refreshments. Highly recommend for active people exploring Taormina

The 14 stations themselves are humble and understated - I liked this. The walk-climb up hill is a little hard if the weather is warm, you have an old knee or two and are not fit (me😄) However, the view of Taormina at the top and the little church built into the rock made it all worthwhile. We sat and had an aperitivo at the roadside bar near the church before walking back to Taormina. Walking down was easy (cobblestones were dry that day). We saw people who appeared older than us (were in our 60s) struggling a bit but if you’re not in a hurry, give it a go - places to sit on the way up.

We were going to dinner in the area and had arranged for a taxi so we stopped here on the way.

Impressive how the church was built into the side of the mountain. Small, and with a low ceiling, but somehow it still felt open and not claustrophobic.

Beautiful views.

The highlight of this excursion is the walk up to the church above town. The view along the way and at the top is amazing. The church itself is small with an unusual ceiling. Make sure you go to the back side of the church for views of the mountains and a refreshing granita at the little shop.

Beautiful viewing, masterpiece stations and astonishing church structure built in to the rock. The stairs seem daunting but only the 100 are steep then they level out. Great landing to stop along the way and enjoy the views.

I walked up the steps which at midday was a bit of a work out. The sights on the way up were superb as was a lovely little church built into the rocks at the top. Very peaceful and we'll worth the effort. Felt I'd earned my lunch.

A beautiful little church at Madonna della Rocco, stunning interior with the rock roof. Great views of Etna. Accessible by road or a walk up the 540 steps with great views en-route! Worth a visit!

Beautiful little church built into the rock high above Taormina. There is a steep pathway up from the town or a bus stops nearby. Great views over the town and the bay. If you are there on the 3rd Sunday in September you can see the Saint's statue being paraded. We were there just beforehand and the street leading to the church was filled with stalls selling sweets and food.

We have had 6 visits to Taormina, Each time we have been to this beautiful church 3 or four times . The inside of this church must bee seen, There is a small door just inside to the right that leads to an out side court yard. This area has a fantastic view the whole of Castelmola ,Mt Etna and the coast line towards Catania. The view from the front of the church looks down on the whole of Taormina.
There was a wedding at the church this year on our visit and the church was made up with flowers that filled the inside with a wonderful smell of roses.
