I have been to this region at least 20 times. Those hills are the stuff of dreams. A true paradiso! The scenery, the food, the wine are all perfection. A must see. 20 stars!

What a place..... stunning scenery, photo opportunities around every corner. Amazingly beautiful towns, wonderful food and wine. The seasons and weather bring about changes that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

I don’t think words can do justice, so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. This is the most ethereal landscape in Italy, and perhaps anywhere in the world. A car is necessary, and don’t just drive the main roads like the unforgettable SP146 connecting the iconic hill-towns of Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano etc. but the various unmarked dirt roads (the... This is one place you will not want to leave. A beautiful location atop a hill, surrounded by olive trees and the prettiest natural landscape Tuscany offers. Simply magical. Angela runs the place really well. She's friendly and very helpful. Her cook made sure we were well fed each morning. We were served preserves made from fruit picked from their... More

Driving around val d'orcia left us in awe of the beauty of tuscany. No wonder it is a UNESCO world heritage. The rolling hills with bales of hay all around to add to its perfect scenery is a memory that we will remember for the rest of our lives. This is a must do for everyone who wants to see... More

Tuscany at its very best. Now with World Heritage status, the Val d'Orcia should feature prominently on any tour of Tuscany. Beautiful hilltop towns and villages compete with stunning scenery just about everywhere you look. Essential Italy!

A large areas, but with lots to do and see. The area consists of lots of hills and the central area seems to be a flat plain in the middle of a crater or very large mountains. Pienza is well worth a visit, as is the hot springs, Gladiator home and the small sleeping hill villages and castles. Favourite village... More

A beautiful place to visit, you need a car to meander along the road and take in the rolling meadows of hay to sunflowers. It's a must do whilst in Tuscany.

We hired a car while on a holiday in Florence and we decided to drive by Val d' Orcia. It was worth the drive! We packed our picnic and ate lunch and ate it at this quaint little church called capella madonna di valeta (?)

We drove along Sp40, from Chianchiano Terme to Gallina and on the 'via delle Fornaci' (part of the mille miglia)to San quirio d'Orcia. Left and right were great landscapes and cypresses on the roadside. Hardly anyone there. Tip: If you see a nice area, leave the asphalt road onto a gravel road up the hills for most spectacular views!
