The museum featured the resident painter of Cortona, Signorelli, a Renaissance master, whose paintings are also in many of the local churches. There was tapestry, other fine paintings and clothing, well displayed and lit.

The best thing is the incredibly beautiful Fra Angelico Annunciation, but the whole gallery is full of very high quality renaissance painting

When one sees so many museums on one's trip, all become a blur. I visited there since there is a two for one price with the Etruscan museum. I went there because it was in the town and small.

You can see everything in less than one hour, but it will leave a lasting impression....More

This museum like many in Italy looks insignificant on the outside. Inside you can get up close and personal with the masterpieces of Signorelli and Fra Angelico. Be sure to see the Chapel below.

The name of the museum does not seem very attractive. However, it is one of the best museums in entire Italy! It houses Fra Angelico's Annunciation, which was just cleaned up. It is just gourgeous. It also houses a collection of Luca Signorelli. Again, do...More

I'll declare my own area of interest up front so you can see where my bias lies - I only went in to see the gothic/medieval and early renaissance art, the other stuff I had no real interest in. That out of the way you'll...More
