I loved the views of Bramasole and the Tuscan countryside while enjoying a lovely walk with friends into the town of Cortona from the nearby town of Torreone. We parked near the cafe in Torreone, grabbed a quick espresso, then continued on foot down into Cortona for the afternoon. If you take the road just left of the cafe it... More

Both the book and the movie "Under The Tuscan Sun" put Cortona and Bramasole on the map. If you're a Frances Mayes fan, it is the closest thing to a pilgrimage you'll get. Some people walk here, but we drove. It's rather easy to get to, and you can pull off on the road and stop for photos. You don't... More

Our driver Stefano from GET tours kindly showed us both Bramasole's - the one purchased and renovated for the movie and the real one where the acclaimed author actually lives. Very happy to have seen both

Went there on a guided walking tour in Cortona. It was an easy walk, once you get to the house, there's not much to see. It's a privately owned home. We were able to take a few pictures from the distance. I wouldn't recommend going out of my way to go here.

My mother, sister and I traveled to Cortona this June. We drove for 6 hours from Florence just to see this gem! The reviews scared me as I feared that we may not be able to find it....but we did!!!! Contrary to the reviews I read, this was not a simple walk from the Piazza della Republica. It was approximately... More

Must see for the lovers of the book and fans of Frances Mayes. I usually jog by each year when visiting Cortona. There isn't actually much to see, it is a private property, but yes you might see the lady herself (although some rumours say she tends to stay in another house in the area). This is not the house... It's a nice hike outside of town through a beautiful park. Road is ok to walk on, not that much traffic. If you liked the movie, you will enjoy seeing Bramasole.

There's probably nothing much decidedly wrong with going to Los Angeles and taking a bus tour of the homes of the celebrities and stars. For one thing, they tend to be much more protected and insulated than needed be the case generations ago. For another, they're probably somewhere else at any given time. Many folk like to kiss rings, get... More
