Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cortona is a very charming small town and this piazza is it centerpiece. I enjoyed seeing the local folks hanging out here and it made for a relaxed and memorable experience. If you have a chance to visit, Cortona is a lovely place.

This interesting Piazza serves at the historic center and focal point for this medieval town. Admire the architecture. We had a walking tour, and our guide pointed out the changes in the buildings over time, as styles and needs evolved. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, galleries and narrow streets to explore. One thing, however, that is difficult to find is a public washroom. There are a couple that you may be able to locate off on a side street, but you will have to pay for entry.

Amazing place! Stroll around, go to the Basilica at the top of the hill, stop at DelBrenna jewelry and don’t miss LaLoggetta for an unforgettable meal and view.

CORTONA is perched on top of a hill in Tuscany, and is an ancient walled town with a pretty city center, lovely piazzas, many churches and interesting history. Cortona gained international fame as the set of Under the Tuscan Sun. We really enjoyed wandering this lovely town. Piazza della Repubblica is the main square in Cortona.

This relatively small Piazza is adjacent to the Piazza Signorelli and, it would appear, that before the 12th century they were actually joined and formed one large square.
The Piazza is dominated by the Municipal Palace with its clock tower and grand 16th century staircase. We have witnessed several post wedding celebrations on these stairs though mostly they are occupied by locals and tourists who just sit on the stairs and enjoy the view, the ambiance and the passeggiata.
There are several cafes and restaurants where you can grab a bite and/or a feed as well as a number of shops.
Hard to miss when in Cortona.

I could sit and people watch all day in the Piazza della Repubblica. And when the town is celebrating a holiday, all kinds of pageantry happens right here

This is the place to be and be seen. Children run around playing tag, young people sit on the steps and text, and the old folks sit on the benches and catch up on the days news. Molesini wine shop as well as their little market are located here as well.

Hi. Could you please tell me if Piazza Della Republica in Cortona is a pleasant place to spend the night during the winter?
Thank you in advance!

I have no idea as I have never been there in the winter. If the restaurants are operating, then of course they would be heated. If you were well rugged up then it might be worth a visit. It would depend on the locals. See if you can contact the local tourist office.
