My husband and I stayed in an AirBnB at the plaza and found the plaza a great place to eat, people watch and just hang out. Unfortunately staying in the AirBnB was not a great idea as our room overlooked the plaza and was very loud even late into the night. What's cool about the plaza is that a lot... More

Great pizza, ate outdoors on Sunday while the farmers market was taking place. We enjoyed our meal then found some interesting things to buy at the market. I'd recommend as visit.

The Piazzo Santo Spirito is across the river and not far from the Pitti Palace. We have dined at the Osteria de Santo Spirito during both of our trips to Florence. They offer outdoor and indoor dining. The four cheese gnocchi is fabulous as is their piaaz and pasta

Expecting an outdoor antiques market, my wife and I made a point of going to Piazza Santo Spirito on the second Sunday of the month that we were in Florence. We didn’t find an antiques market, but we did find a terrific outdoor market with maybe 50 tables set up all over the Piazza on which vendors were displaying various... More

A very nice farmer's market, at least on Sundays, in a crowded piazza with restaurants all around it. A nice place to have a beer, coffee or lunch, with a lot to see.

This is a great classic Italian piazza. I bit quieter than most with excellent restaurants. This is the location of the movie Cinema Paradiso--so fun if you are a movie buff. The church is gorgeous--don't miss Michelangelo's white crucifixion. The hours are a little funky and the website is not correct. Check the front right door for times. It seemed... More

There is a very unassuming church in this piazza that you would not think to bother going in. However, if you do, you will find some of the most interesting works of art among which is Michelangelo's crucifix. Just lovely. There is also a wonderful restaurant-Osteria San Spirito in this piazza. The food is outstanding and it is always crowded.... More

But spectacular from the inside. Not to be missed-Michelangelo's first sculpture -a wooden Jesus suspended on the cross which has been moved from the main altar to a side chapel. Stunning.

Need to visit this piazza any time of the day. Its full of small restaurants and local people. It relaxes you and calms you from the many tourists of Florence.

Staying in Pitti

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
