Such amazing art! We only had about 3 hours to spend here and could have used more. Perhaps we were lucky but the crowd on the day we went wasn't too bad. We were able to buy tickets at the window and go right in, no waiting. The gift shop was excellent.

Among the five most visited museums in Italy and among the 20s most important in the world, this museum boasts a vast collection of Italian Renaissance masterpieces, some worldwide known like Botticelli’s Spring and the Birth of Venus, Caravaggio’s Medusa (a shield), the Annunciation by Leonardo, Madonna of the goldfinch (Raphael) and many others. Lots of statues from the Roman era (the Medicis were art collectors) and those corridors all wall and ceiling decorated with frescoes. There were lots of portraits with some people that didn’t understood why there (like Ottoman sultans); they are copies of another collection from a Como villa, the Giovio series, where the name of “museum” was first used, interesting. These “offices” were built to house the offices of the then Duchy of Florence then Grand Duchy of Tuscany, a place of public authority use where also the Medicis could exhibit their art collections. The good thing here is that is possible to visit and see everything (depending how long is the stop to admire a single piece) in no more than 4 hours or half day; can start early morning then out by noon or enter by lunchtime and finish with the closing hour or just do the 2 hours walk, follow, see, quick photo, walk, follow, see with no longer contemplation minutes stop.

The Uffizi is one of the great art galleries of the world and the queues attest to that - book your tickets online and then pick up from the little office to maximise your time in the galleries. A not to be missed slice of Italian culture with some of the greatest works of art of all time. I would also recommend a sandwich and a spritz on the terrace as it is not too busy and has a good view of the Florence skyline. When it is always superbusy in Florence you can forgive a too expensive average sandwich for a quiet break on a roof terrace.

Amazing museum with some of the greatest works of art known to man. One of the worlds top museums. However, note that it is not easy to get into without a reservation, so make sure you handle that in advance.

Tour groups make this a difficult attraction to enjoy. You can barely get close enough to appreciate the beautiful paintings or the artists' attribution signs. However, their collection of the Masters of the Renaissance is unparalleled. It goes without saying that you MUST make a reservation online if you are not with a tour group. The check-in was across the square from the main entrance and the procedure was very efficient. A private tour guide might make your visit more informative and they would know which rooms you could skip. The sculptures are Roman and they are easily enjoyed. It will take several hours to see it all, so take a break on the Terrace cafe.

The Uffizi is one of the great art galleries of the world and must see in Florence. Amongst the hundreds of pieces of art and sculptures are some of the most famous items in the world. The Birth of Venus is the undoubted star and is just magnificent. The Adoration of the Magi by da Vinci is also a stunner.

So much to see. Important to book well in advance. Always busy so does not matter about what time of day. Well organised with strict admission slots. Obviously rooms with the most celebrated paintings get the most crowded. Can only walk in a designated route, no doubling back. Only suggestion we can make is pick a selection that you want before you go, find out what rooms they are in and skip the rest.

You need to book tickets in advance as this gallery is very popular. There are queues outside and the time of entry goes up about ten minutes before the time on your tickets and then you join the queue. We were there around 11.30 a.m. and it was busy with groups from cruise ships and guides who would gather around the paintings. Later in the day it seemed a bit quieter. The gallery itself is amazing even apart from the artwork. It is in a U shape with corridors and rooms opening up from them. The name of the artists displayed are on each room so it makes it easy going around. The actual corridors have a lot of wood and windows with amazing painting on the ceiling. You could actually spend the whole day just looking at the ceiling in the corridors. The artwork in here is amazing. The Botticelli Birth of Venus and Primavera are some of the most popular. There are statues along the corridors. The Medusa by Caravaggio is near the end of the galleries. There is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating where we had a snack. We were 4-5 hours in the Uffizi, it is such an amazing gallery.

Amazing museum. Very crowded especially around the most popular exhibits. You can buy tickets online but then have to collect from the on site collection point. The collection point will only allow you to pick up entry tickets 15 minutes before entry time. You will be turned away if too early. At least the collection queue is short as a consequence. If you haven't booked online then the queue for tickets can be very long and you may be disappointed. Why you can only collect on site I do not know - we printed our tickets for the Duomo at home so why not here?

The guidebooks say you can visit in a couple of hours. This may be true if you just hit the highlights or have a guide walking you through. We tend to spend more time than average in museums anyway, but we spent 8 hours and don't regret a minute. Buy a ticket in advance and don't schedule anything afterward so you can see as much as you wish.
