All it is is a square but compared to others in Florence it is less crowded (we even found a bench to sit on) and more a feeling of openness due to its size and the fact that the only imposing building surrounding it is...More

BUYER BEWARE - purchased numerous leather products at this store as it was recommended by our Tour guide. Two beautiful leather wallets - had numerous areas "glued" together. Couldn't tell until we got home and they started coming apart. Both wallets had to be thrown...More

The Piazza Di Santa Croce is the public square outside the Santa Croce Cathedral. It is a rather pleasant place with much lesser crowds than the other popular piazzas. There are quite a few stone benches to sit and relax after a hard day of...More

The plaza is pleasant enough but, when we learned that it was full of Giotto art and that Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, and Ghibarti were laid to rest here well, that was the icing on the cake. Must come back and spend some time. Time, that...More

I absolutely loved this piazza! A hub of activity without being completely overcrowded. A perfect spot to rest your feet, enjoy a gelato and watch the world go by

It was not crowded at all. There are several gold shops, leather shops and restaurants to choose from. There was a beautiful Basilica. It's a place to relax and enjoy a nice meal at a close by restaurant.

The monumental square is named after the equally magnificent Basilica that is its central building. Opposite the church, there is Palazzo Cocchi-Serristori, designed by Giuliano da Sangallo and on the south side you can see the long Palazzo dell’Antella. In front of the church is...More

Several years we had stayed in the Santa Croce area and it was an excellent choice: not noisy at night and the Piazza was so gorgeous in the morning before the tourist crowds’ invasion. This time, in May, we revisited one of our favorite piazzas...More

Santa Croce
Stop and stare at the beauty and symmetry of the
Basilica of Santa Croce any time day or night.
Unraveling around it are a number of architectural and
artistic masterpieces, from the Synagogue to the
Central National Library. As a hub for young people,
the area gets busy with people who want to have fun: a
continuous flow of tourists and locals become animated
by songs and dances.

Yes. There's a Taxi stand just in front of the square. But it's only a five to seven minute walk.
