People are reporting that the market has closed. It was moved in mid-2016, relocating to Largo Annigoni, just a few streets away. It still has great little shops and a similar atmosphere.

Nice place to look for Antiques just inside Florence. But this is nothing compared to Arezzo where the merchants are in the hundreds.

It is a flea market. There are either hawker and stable stalls that will sell to you antiquites, vintage items, prints, old books and many other interesting things. You must be an expert to distinguish a real deal between the garbage. However if you are an amateur and you only like flea markets this one is quite interesting and pictoresque. It worth a visit.

Don't bother going - market is closed and fenced off. There are a few cafes and bars around the area, and it's quite a nice walk past some artisan jewellers, and other interesting little shops, but the flea market is no longer operating, so don't waste your time.

We went there on 7/26 2015. It was the 4th Sunday of july. All stores were closed, only 2 vendors selling vintage clothes. Supposedly, the antiques market should have been extensive. To our disappoint, the area was quiet. The resident there said, "come here on weekdays." I wonder if the antique market really extends or opens on the 4th Sunday of each month.

Tried to visit the flea market in Piazza Dei Ciompi today... The 'permanent' stalls in the centre of the square are all empty & fenced off, with the appearance of being due for demolition (some of them are already pretty smashed up). There were no stalls in the surrounding streets either, even though it was the last Sunday of the month. Big disappointment!

If you swoon over old buttons, tiny cordial glasses, weathered cookie tins and other such glorious treasures, be prepared to spend many happy hours at Piazza dei Ciompi. I asked the manager of our hotel where a good place to shop for old things might be and she circled an area on the map near this market. When we arrived on foot at what we thought was the right place, all I could see was Italian dollar stores and I was like "Good grief - she thought I wanted cheap junk!" And then we saw it - the rows of tin-roofed stores lined up. You will need to know a few basic Italian phrases, including numbers, as most of the shop owners do not speak English. Lace, dishes, art, chandelier crystals and more are waiting for their next adventure!

Had a couple of hours on a Sunday morning before leaving Florence, and read there's a monthly flea market on every last Sunday. Hence I went to check out early in the morning.

The market is about 20mins walk from Florence train station. Market is open from about 9am onwards.
When I arrived it was about 8:30am and there were some stalls ready. It's quite a sight to see all the stall owners busy about settling up. There's numerous stalls, my guess is about 100 or so.. Selling antiques, books, bags, jewellery etc. If you into treasure hunting, this is a place to be!

Although this permanent vintage/antique market is supposed to be open every day, we were disappointed to find, mid-week and mid-day in late April, almost all the stalls were closed. The few that were open had an interesting mix of mid-century and more recent collectibles. Maybe it would be better in high season or on Saturday, and based on other reviewers and other sites, the monthly antique market may be a better experience.

There is a permanent vintage market. Stalls are kind of small shops. You can find vintage forniture, especially 70s lamps, house appliances, pictures, frames, books, clothes and accessories. It is in the middle of the square surranded by mobile stalls bars and cafes. It is very nice and not too turistic. Closeby there is the Sant'Ambrogio Market and the nice Sant'Ambrogio square.
