We continued through the gardens at the Palazzo Pitti to Fort Belvedere (since we were almost there anyway). The climb up is not to be taken lightly, but the views of Florence don't disappoint. The fort is an odd place and a bit confusing to...More

Nothing much there what you see from outside is basically it. There's a good view of Florence from the top and a cafe inside A few empty rooms with modern art if you like that kind of thing

Forte di Belvedere is interesting place to go to and has beautiful view on city of Florence. During my visit there it was the venue of an exhibition (some artifacts were interesting to me, like that one of a huge skeleton etc., but I mostly...More

Even though the official website says Fort Belvedere is open, it is NOT! One travels all the way uphill to this place only to find a notice pinned to the gate saying it is closed until further notice. It's about time they updated their website!

Seems obvious. But I make a serious point - unless the fort is open, there's no point making the climb. There's nothing to see, literally. It was meant to be open when we visited (at least according to Google) but wasn't. And as the car...More

A fantastic place high above Florence. The views are truly magnificent over Florence and the surrounding hills. Great sculptures of shiny highly polished bronze(I think) everywhere, amazing! We walked up through the Boboli Gardens (tickets required outside first around 10 Euros, entrance to the fort...More
