We visited this market twice during our most recent trip to Florence. The first visit was to see what was available for purchase and then be able to compare prices with other merchandise available elsewhere in Florence. The second visit on the same day was...More

Near the Mercato del Porcellino, there were 4 young men playing violins in the pedestrian-only street. Their music was beautiful and I purchased their CD - "Musica nel Vento". However, when I got back home the CD was blank!

Another amazing market in central Florence with great leather goods available. We bought a lovely, simple zip up soft leather case for our Sony camcorder and accessories! Of course, the life size metal statue of the Porcellino is the star of the show here! Taking...More

The ancient building housing this market place is well worth a visit. The market itself has many vendors selling leather goods and souvenirs. The popular bronze statue of the Tuscan Boar can be found here.

Next to Porcellino Fountain is the market from where you can buy different thinks made from genuine leather. The price is negotiable but they don;t negotiate much during the day. At the end of the day, when they start packing you can negotiate and buy...More

The original cast of Porcellino is in the Uffizi Galleries. We went by here while vendors were still setting up and no crowds. Later in day there are more people. This was a fun photo op!

The Mercato Porcellino or the Marcato Nuovo is a covered market located in the historic center of Florence. The biggest attractions however are the Fontana del Porcellino (fountain of the piglet) and the loggia, that covers the market. The market itself has become a real...More

Porcellino markets apparently are the most visited markets in Florence. Porcellino means 'pig' and at the entrance to the markets there is a bronze statue of a gigantic pig. There are rows of tents selling all kind of leather goods ranging from handbags, belts, purses...More

To be honest I've been to better flea markets while on my trips, really nothing special to see or buy here, only thing worth doing is going round the corner and touching the bore and having some snaps taken and don't forget to put a...More

This beautiful 16th-century loggia was originally a covered luxury-goods market. Well, not now. Now it is a home for cheap merchandise, tacky “made in China” souvenirs, low quality leather goods and other junk. Things have definitely changed to the worse. If you add loud crowd,...More

Loggia del Porcellino is located close to the Ponte Vecchio, and today sells mostly souvenirs and leather goods. The most well known item at the market is Fontana del Porcellino. It is worth stopping to get a picture of the boar. Prices are better at...More

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city
