Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This convent exudes peace and tranquility. It's off the beaten path for sure. They have a small museum of artifacts that they've collected from faraway places. But the real treat is to take in the peace of the place and, if you're fortunate enough to talk to one of the priests, you might get a chance to see more of the place. It transported me to a different state of mind.

A beautiful old convent on top of Fiesole- view of Florence spectacular. The convent is small and ancient- built in 1125 and then re-established several times. So beautiful words cannot describe. small fountain interior surrounded by roses!

The short relatively steep climb to this convent - from the bus station in the village square - is a small price for the peaceful atmosphere of this superb religious site. Wonderful architecture, serene cloisters, peaceful gardens and overall the most beautiful panoramic views of Florence. It surpasses even those from Piazzle Michelangelo. A must see while in Florence.

This is one of the very reason going to Fiesole is a wonderful trip. The cloisters, original paintings are superb. Location is amazing. Nice place to visit.

We were staying in Florence for 2 weeks and using it for our base to explore some of the surrounding areas. Fiesole is an easy and inexpensive bus ride from Florence. Grab the #7 bus from Piazza San Marco and 20-30 minutes later you are in Fiesole. Bus ticket is less then $2 USD and drops you off right in the main square of Fiesole. We knew nothing about the museum before arriving in Fiesole. I know, bad us for lack of planning! But we had read about the steep road to the top of a hill overlooking Florence in the distance so we wandered up the road. It is a great view but the best surprise (to us at the time) was this great little museum. It's also free! They take donations and we gladly tossed in a few euro. This museum has some interesting items in a few rooms (mummy, pottery, jewelry, art, coins, religious artifacts). There is even a small gift shop near the church where you can purchase the usual post cards, books and religious items as well as water and ice cream. There is a nice area to sit and enjoy the views of the convent. If you have an extra couple of hours while you are in Florence and want to get away from the massive amount of tourists give this small museum a look. It's well worth it.

The convent was established around 1399 and retains a small, very pretty area of cloisters, always colourful with flowers. The Church is small with a crucifix by Neri di Bicci. The monk's cells are still intact and it is possible to go up a narrow staircase and visit some of the cells.

The view from just below the Convento is magnificent, views across Florence and the surrounding countryside. Take the no.7 bus from San Marco to Fiesole terminus and then a short but steep walk from the square where the Convento di San Domenico i s located takes to past a leather shop and view point, up to San Francesco.

Where else in Italy could you find an Egyptian mummy? Well here. It basically has many artifacts brought back by missionaries and as such is very interesting. The location and view is superb. Definitely worth a visit.

If you are in Florence and you can afford a day to go to Fiesole, just do it! Franciscan Missionary Monastery is one of the main atractions and worth a visit. It's a peaceful place, with lots of history and excelente views! Not suitable for disabled people, or if you are not keen to climbe.

This quiet, spiritual corner of Fiesole has become a touchstone for me. Away from the crowds of Florence, this restful spot at the top of the hill reminds me of how restoring a bit of silence and beauty can be.

The hike to the top is straight up. If you are going for the view, do not do it unless it is a very clear day. The free museum is worth a quick visit. Just be aware there are no toilet facilities. You have to walk back down to the Roman ruins at the foot of the hill if "nature calls" - a very long walk!
