Quiet time in Lucca

Visited Pfanner and enjoyed the fountain and surrounding gardens. Enjoyed a tour of residence. Nice way to spend a leisure afternoon; quiet and peaceful.

If you are in Lucca, whatever else you do, the garden at Palazzo Pfanner is worth a visit. Even in the rain it was so romantic, so evocative of another era, so perfectly planned and executed and so Italian that I knew I was in an extraordinary space. There’s nothing overblown or over the top here, just symmetry, harmony and... More

This former private residence is in the corner of the walled city and easy to miss. Very interesting collection of period furniture but the real treat is the beautifully landscaped large garden. It worth finding a bench and relaxing for a few minutes. Great view of the garden from the walking, biking path atop the city wall.

Nice Palazzo for a visit , nice toscane garden, in the interior curious ancient surgical objects, nice ancient furnitures, one part of the palazzo has furnished rooms for rent .

of the rich guys in Lucca. The gardens are beautiful and you can catch a glimpse of how was to live at the end of the 19TH century in Tuscany. But nothing too spectacular here.

The garden and its statues is the true highlight here. It is a baroque garden with 18th century statues of Greek deities. It is well maintained and quite lovely. There are a few places to sit and enjoy this experience. The palazzo, which is included in the entry fee, is nice but definitely not the reason to visit. The gardens... More

The gardens are lovely. We were there in October but I imagine on a hot day they are like a little paradise. The house is rather dilapidated but in that rather good and oh-so-Italian way

You wouldn't guess from the street that this house has a gorgeous garden out back. Worth the relatively small fee to wander through. Parts of the house are also open with historical family items on display. Worth a visit. If you do the bike ride around the walls of Lucca, you'll get a different perspective of the gardens as the... We came here to enjoy the beautiful gardens, with the fountain and Greek god statuary. Our ticket also included a trip up the stairs and into the Palazzo Pfanner. I was not so impressed with the latter. Aside from the large grand rooms you would expect, there were a surprising number of medical equipment on display. Things that really, might... More

We didn't go into the palace itself, but the gardens with its fountain and many statues, are enchanting. We were there on a sunny day and I enjoyed just sitting in a little rose bush arbour in the sunshine! Easily accessible from the city walls.
