To climb the tower it needs some basic fitness. The staircase gets smaller to the top and you will sometimes have to wait in order to let people pass. The reward is a magnificent view. Really worth a visit.

There are 230 steps to get to the top. In our age it was too hard to make it, but the building itself is worth to look at.

Get your feet ready, there are more than 400 steps but it is such an amazing view from the top. You must do it. We could not stop tak8ng pictures of the Italian rooftops. Enjoy.

Paolo Guinigi who built the tower was himself a silk merchant so I imagine the trade was concentrated in the area and there are a few craftsmen still pursuing/demonstrating the trade in the city. Afraid I can't help you with... More
