Great example of aqueduct

Built in the early 1800's, was in use until the early 1900's. Looks like aqueducts built by the Romans probably because the system worked.

Ancient Acqueduc, you can see it from faraway from the highway, construction from the ancien romans to bring the water in town of Lucca; locals make often a picnic trip to the forest outside of town, very nice for familys.

The distance to the hills is about 4km. On the way you'll pass by a few water fountains that will allow you to taste the hills yonder, that water travels underground, the aqueduct is no longer in use. Once on the hills you can walk across the old water works, canals, surrounded by pine and chestnut trees. It's very peaceful... More

We only saw a portion of the aquaduct from the bus on our trip through the countryside. Would have missed it if the guide hadn't told us where to look. It is very old and well constructed - didn't know there were so many in the world.

I came across the aquaduct while planning my trip to Lucca. IThe article I read did explain that it wasnt easy to find unless you know where to look. It's worth doing satellite view of the aquaduct to see where it goes. After going through the station underpass turning left onto Via Nottolini and then right up Via Tempietto you... More

This is arguably the best thing to see in Lucca and even the tourist office know nothing about it! I recommend you plan a walk along the aqueduct and up into the hills following the route of the river which feeds it.

Only drove by it two times, but the view is magnificent!! You can see it for example from the highway around Lucca > Florence.

A great easy 49 minute ride along by the aqueduct. Use the review that someone else posted on how to get there. A cafe half way Open from midday.
