Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This small, highly specialized museum located at the western perimeter of Lucca on the city wall overlooking Piazzale Verdi memorializes the history of the Lucca mint, which happens to be the oldest mint in Europe. The tour is of special interest to coin collectors and lovers of medieval history.

We bumped into this museum by chance while we were walking on the famous Walls.
The museum is small and cozy, you can visit it in 15 min. If you visit it ask the employee to show you how the Leonrdo invention to coin work and you will receive the brand new coin. Otherwise you can see a lot of old and very old coins. Worth a visit also if you are not a passionate of coins as a break of your walk on the walls.

The man who explained the collections and showed us the different methods of making the coins was not only well-informed,which was to be expected, and patient but had a real knack for keeping the attention of restless young children and making them participants of the process. We all came away richer(we were given small examples of Lucchese coins) and more knowledgeable.

I really want to give it more because the two men at reception were so friendly, but honestly if you aren't Italian speaking then the museum has zero value and I wouldn't go as the few descriptions are in Italian, but it is an underwhelming collection of items and we didn't know what we were looking at, didn't learn anything and just visually the collection wasn't that interesting or enjoyable.
It was a waste of 20 minutes and I was sad we hadn't gone to a different museum (The Palazzo Pfanner was MUCH better and interesting with the medical instruments for example.

No wait, situated in the city wall, friendly curator who communicated with gestures with us in an heroic effort to compensate for our lack of Italian!
