Pisa could not miss a statue of Galileo but I was surprised that this one was created only a few years ago. Large but not particularly beautiful and perhaps should be placed elsewhere in the city.

Bronze statue of considerable size and illuminated posture that allow you to fully feel the strong personality of Galileo Galilei represented with the symbols that combine his great passion and astronomical intuition: the terrestrial globe and the telescope. This perennial homage from his hometown was due to a son so unique in terms of ingenuity and foresight. The work of the sculptor M. Gabriele Vicari deserves appreciation for the intense posture, the profound expressiveness of the face and gaze, the philological rigor of the clothing and the finesse of the finishes and details. Absolutely worth seeing!
