Take a deep breath, pay the entrance and just climb the steps. It's not narrow until the last 10 steps at the top but boy is it worth it!!

Great for a birds'-eye view of San Gimignano and the fields around it. Make sure you aren't bursting at the seams because the short final ladder to the belfry is, well, tight. I was glad we did this before the gelato orgy.

My family were a bit doubtful when we started climbing the steps, not because of the exercise, but because you could see through the steps to the bottom. We persevered and it was well worth it. The view from the top of the tower is...More

The bell tower is a treasure. The climb is reasonable and the views are spectacular. An unexpected delight was the lower rooms of the tower with many wonderful murals.

I’m rating this as a 5* because the view is fantastic. We came on a hot day so you will need to make sure you have your sun cream on. The climb isn’t as bad as they say but you have to bear in mind...More

Well worth the climb. Very clever AV presentation to distract you on the way up. The surrounding country side is glorious and best viewed late in the day.

These towers built in middle age are fabulous. San Gimignano is worth visiting as one of the best cities in Toscana

Several friends had suggested that we visit here as its towers are famous. The towers themselves are not particularly unusual, its just that there are several of them, creating a very unique skyline. Apparently, there were even more at one time. The way to demonstrate...More

There are many towers in San Gimignano but not all are open to be climbed. We arrived at 10 in the morning when it opened and there was only a little queue. The steps are not too difficult until you get to the last few...More
