Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had been wanting to visit this museum for some time but it appears that it is only open at certain times around the the running of the Palios. Entry was free and we were guided around the museum by the delightful Antonella who doubles as a Professor of Statistics when University is in session.
This is a very modern museum housed within an old historical building. There are beautiful displays of uniforms worn over the centuries by the various Contrada officials and jockeys as well as various equipment including jockeys' helmets, drums, flags, banners, pictures and most importantly, the magnificently painted silk cencios that the Contrada has been awarded for winning the Palio.
You get an acute sense of the pride, passion, tradition and history of this Contrada just walking around and looking at the displays.
We were also shown the interior of the Contrada's church which is next door to the museum.

While we were walking in the contrada della Tortuca, local residents spontaneously invited us to visit their church and their museum, taking the time to explain their history and that of the Palio to us. We were touched by the warmth of their welcome and the time they took to share with us a tradition that is dear to them and that they strive to preserve. So we were able to discover the different palios and historical costumes. Thank you very much for this beautiful moment of discovery!!

So much history, so much proud, so much beauty! You can see how the contrada takes care of every detail. And the Palios (the prizes that contrada win for the horse race) are amazing. Everyone of them is a piece of art!

At the museum in the Tartuca district we met Luigi who accompanied us with patience and competence for a two-hour visit to the museum and adjoining church, explaining everything to us exhaustively and answering all our questions.
Beautiful museum where you can find the palios won by the district, the mounts, the costumes, the flags and lots of objects.
For two hours we almost felt like Tartuchini and it was engaging to listen to the history of the Palio and the district.
