The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

This dome is incredible. Initially designed to be even larger, money seemed to have forced Siena to downsize. But downsizing is relative. This dome does not need to fear comparison to the ones in Pisa or Florence. The interior might even be even better.

I've been around and visited gorgeous unforgettable cathedrals, churches and chapels such as: Duomo di Milano, Duomo di Firenze, Duomo di San Pietro in Roma, St.Paul's cathedral in London, Cappella Sistina in Vatican, Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Notre-Dame de Paris etc. but no other impressed me before like Duomo di Siena did. When I came inside the building I felt... More

This is the cathedral for you. Siena is a wonderfully charming medievil little town in the Italian countryside, with winding streets and old, gothic charm. The cathedral stands out with an ornate exterior and a beautifully vaulted interior, with alternating black/white themes which represent the legendary founders of the town. If you have the time and enjoy cathedrals, Siena is... More

I bought basic 2 euro ticket to look around the main part of the cathedral as I only wanted to be in there around 15 mins (partner waiting outside with dog) Lost track of time once inside - the beauty of it takes you somewhere else. Emotional experience ...

We just happened to be in Siena at the perfect time to see the marble murals on the floor when they were uncovered. We also took the "extra" to wind our way up the tiny and steep staircase to the "attic" of the cathedral where we had an overhead view of the floor . . . INCREDIBLE. A must-do if... More

Be sure to purchase a ticket to see all of the Cathedrals. Religious or not, you will appreciate the architectural beauty, the artwork, and the history. It's almost as if you are going on an expedition, and if you want a little more adventure and really feel like your discovery something for the first time, visit the hospital behind the... More
