Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The church, built in Baroque style, was built on the site that was believed to be the birthplace of Saint Francis. In the small external square there is a statue of the miracle worker's parents. Internally it is decorated almost entirely with paintings and has a dome in the center of its structure, made in the shape of a Greek cross. To visit.

The church was build where the house of San Francesco used to be, and you can still visit some remains of the original house in the back! Also, inside the church, it was preserved the room where San Francesco used to be locked by his own father. Very moving.

Daily Mass was at 6:30pm, one of the latest in Assisi, and usually only has 5-10 people attending. It's a beautiful church for a quiet daily Mass. It's a small, but gorgeous church worth visiting.

This church, built by the Franciscans, is on the supposed site of the birth house of St. Francis. Construction was started in 1615 and consecrated in 1691. Built in a Greek cross design, the Nave and transepts are the same size. Inside the church is the stairwell in which his father imprisoned St. Francis. Later released by his mother.
The steps behind the Cappella dell’Immacolata lead to the entrance of the family home.
If you ask the Friar on duty politely he may allow you to take photos.

This small church is covered with Frescos to view on the life of S. Francis. It's very quiet and much less visited than the other churches in Assisi.
Great for meditation.

This is not a big tourist attractions, it is just the kind of church I love. Simple, beautiful, homely. It is a place I would use to contemplate and just BE. Restrictions are minimal and just what one would expect in a church anyway.

This is the historical religious birthplace of Saint Francis. It covers the home of Pietro di Bernardone, Saint Francis' father. It includes the small cell that his father locked him in to prevent him from continuing with his fledgling religious ministry.

A small church in Assisi. It is considered a new church even though it was built close to 300 years ago. Here you will find the home of St. Francis and the prison where his mother (or father?) held him captive. Some parts of the church were under renovation when I visited, however I still had a pleasant experience as the church was not crowded with tourists.

Still under renovation but the room where St. Frances' father held him captive remains on display. Lovely side chapels and late Renaissance architecture

Amazing church preserving the early life of St. Francis. A restoration is in progress, but you can see the boyhood doorway of St. Francis, his father's warehouse, and the cell his father imprisoned St. Francis.
