In the city square. You can see the transformation of the temple from 1 century BC to what it is today - a church. Mix of architecture elements.

A church worth visiting while in Assisi. Definitely stop in and tour, pray, meditate. Everything in Assisi is easy to see and do compared to other larger cities.

While walking around Assisi, I came to the Temple of Minerva. It currently houses a church, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, built in 1539 and renovated in the 17th century. It was another beautiful church. It is small but quite ornate. There is a lovely fountain...More

Set in the main old town piazza is this temple dedicated to the ancient goddess Minerva. It is a Roman looking temple and had been converted into a beautiful small church.

I had the opportunity to visit and pray at this church, once a temple. In the early evening it was a peaceful visit to fall upon a church with two priests praying the rosary and a laywoman later joined them to pray. A beautiful prayerful...More

This was a Roman Pagan Temple that was converted to a Catholic Church. The outside is still decorated with the Roman Columns. It is an amazing structure.

We loved the art, stained glass and history of this place. There’s a beautiful tomb in the basement where you can light a candle for loved ones and learn more about the history of the place and people.
